How long do you get up after waking?

Asked by jabag11 (676points) January 20th, 2011

as in, when you wake up in the morning, do you get up right away and start your day, taking a shower or whatever. Or…Do you wake up, and then rest for another half hour, and then get up? or what, how does it work for you?

As soon as I wake I get up, give the dogs a hug and make myself a coffee
don’t want to tempt myself into having another snooze!!

I never want to get up. However, I need to pee generally so I get up to do that.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

Unless I am not feeling well,I usually get right up.

Out of bed the minute I wake up, The dog needs to go out. I can’t lie in bed, anyway.

Seaofclouds's avatar

I get up once I wake up because I have to pee as soon as I wake up. From there, I either get up and start my day or I get back in bed for a little bit depending on what I have to do that day.

I remember asking this when I was on dear old answerbag…..memories, misty water coloured memories….Anyway yeah, I get up whenever the dog licks my nose or the wife kicks me up the arse….whichever comes first basically.

It takes me hours to get out of bed.

at the moment five minutes after I wake up because I’m hauling my butt out of bed to get some exercise done before the real day begins… (I give myself five minutes to remind myself why it’s not a good idea to go back to sleep)

Up and adam! That’s me. I like to get up and get my day started by lounging around for about an hour. Sheesh! I could have stayed in bed and did the same thing:D

I am definitely a snooze button kind of guy.

Even on days when I don’t have to set the alarm I’ll wake up slowly. I’ll become simi-conscious and then kind of lay there in that half awake, half asleep state for an hour or so before actually getting up.

I always get up within a couple of minutes of waking up. Once I wake up, I have to pee and brush my teeth, then get the coffee on!

a minute

I wake up, use the restroom, immediately go downstairs and fix a cup of coffee (oops, actually scoop the contents from my cat’s litter box into the trash) then make my coffee, then take a quick shower, then have a small breakfast: maybe whole grain toast or pita bread or rice cake with a smear of peanut butter, or a whole grain tortilla with a bit of hummus. I’m not very hungry early in the morning. Then I brush my teeth, take a swig of mouthwash and then head out. I usually have a cup of tea around mid morning.

I pop right out of bed, set the coffee machine, turn on the laptop, do my yoga and have a cup of coffee catching the early Jelly risers for a few….then shower and head to the office.

I set my alarm for 5:15 am during the week to relax but end up shutting my alarm off and sleep til 6am instead before I truly get up and make coffee.

Straight away usually.

5minutes. Unless its pants on hurry hurry time.

downtide's avatar

My alarm is purposefully set early because I like to lie and listen to the radio before I get up.

Blackberry's avatar

Most of the time, I wake up and lay there thinking, and other times I just get up very quickly.

I hate waking up in the morning. I always hit the snooze on the alarm clock at least twice. Sometimes I have intentions of waking up early to do some reading or schoolwork (because it is extra time that I don’t have), but I always wind up going back to sleep after the alarm goes off. I’m just not a morning person, I thrive at nighttime.

Fred931's avatar

Well, my alarm clock is about 5 feet away from my bed.

So, faster than you can say, “Crap, I need to get started on my schoolwork I could’ve at least started on yesterday instead of waking up at four. Again.”

wundayatta's avatar

Ten minutes. Unless I have to be at work early, in which case I get up right away.

flutherother's avatar

I listen to the radio for ten or fifteen minutes and then get up.

When I wake up, I get up.

Waking up, though, is the hardest part…

my body clock is set to 4 or 4:30 in the morning because of my work schedule. even my bowels are calibrated to this time. i can’t sleep past 6 on a weekend or a holiday because my body clock is so regimented. ,

YARNLADY's avatar

When I’m actually awake, I get up. However, I sometimes open my eyes, look at my clock, and then turn over and go back to sleep. I’m not aware of it until I look at the clock again and an hour or two has passed.

charliecompany34's avatar

in other words, i try to fight it when i dont have to get up, but when i know i need to get up, i just get up and out the bed.

filmfann's avatar

I wake all thru the night.
My alarm goes off at 5, and I am out of bed by 5:09

Bellatrix's avatar

Depends on the day really, when I have to work our morning schedule is quicker than at weekends. However, I am obviously a spoiled brat because I get coffee in bed every morning. So, I wake up, go to the loo, come back to bed drink coffee while chatting to my husband, hug my dogs and stroke the cat, watch the early morning news, we talk about what’s happening in the world then get up, get showered, make-up, hair, dressed, gather lunch, drive to work.

starsofeight's avatar

Some days I get right up, with or without setting the clock. Some days I get up before I get up. Some days I stretch, roll over and take a nap because that is the only time I am able to nap.
