When was the last time your heart melted?

Asked by Hawaii_Jake (37748points) January 21st, 2011

Tonight as we were driving home from the grocery store with a chocolate cake mix to bake a spontaneous cake, my 12-year-old daughter said I was a delight, and I wanted to cry with joy. No one has told me something that endearing in a very long time.

When was the last time someone said something that special to you?

My girlfriend told me she’s “thankful for me.”

For some reason, that means more to me than flirtation or “I love you.”

I was recently told by a new friend that getting to know me felt like “finding a missing piece, one that I didn’t know was missing before”.

Probably the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me :)

We’ve been hit with bad snowstorms lately, so I always make sure that I pick up my little girls from school everyday, and try to be on time because of the hazardous icy roads and heavy traffic. Last week, when I picked them up as usual and drove them home, they both gave me a tender hug and a big kiss. They told me I was the best Daddy in the whole world because I care about them so much, and that some of the other kids at school still have to take the bus in such horrible, freezing weather. They made me a beautiful card filled with loving words, expressing their thanks and love for me. That really melted my heart.

Not somethng that was said exactly, but hubby didn’t have his glasses on this morning and he glanced over at me and smiled, gets me every time :-) Daniel Craig has the most beautiful blue eyes but they don’t have a patch on my sweetie’s eyes which are just the most incredible… the most heartstopping blue.

When I look at my daughter, she’s just so cute (people say she’s a mini version of me – just sayin). She melts my heart every day. She’s 3½.

Each and every morning when my dogs almost wag their tails off greeting me.

I answered a domestic call, involving a five year old girl. she was cute as a button. once i calmed down her parents and was about to leave, the five year old little girl came running out the front door of her house and yelled, “wait, wait”. i had no idea of what was about to happen next.

I was standing outside my police car and she reached out her little arms for me to pick her up. this i did. she placed her hands on my face, looked me straight in the eyes and said…......

“I just love old cops”. (i was 60 at the time). i am still looking for the pieces of my heart today.

This, i will never forget.

It is constantly in melted form, it never solidifies!

Most recently, it would be when my youngest (4) came and asked for a cuddle. I jokingly asked him ”why would you want a cuddle?”, he replied “because I love you”.

WIN!

Yesterday, when I was reading my teaching evaluations from last semester. The comments some of my students wrote had me getting misty-eyed. Most people just answer the numerically scaled questions and leave the rest blank, but every single one of my students wrote something nice in the comments section. It was really touching.

He’s said it only once before but my fiancee called me his little gift from gawd when he called me on the road the other night.

The most notable one recently was when Austinlad wrote these words to me in an email (he knows I’m sharing them here):

“I went to sleep thinking about you and loving you; I woke up thinking about you and loving you; I shall go through the entire day, week, month, year and the rest of my life thinking about you, loving you, and doing everything I can to make you/us happy.”

Absolutely melted my heart. I am so fortunate to have found him!!

my dad’s (ex)girlfriend sent me a really sweet text last night. She told me that my support alone makes her happy and okay and she asked for me to never change and followed by saying “if it’s even possible, I love you more than ever and not because of tonight but because of the time we spent this week leading up to tonight.” We were able to spend a lot of time together while I’ve been visiting home this week and it was so nice to just be able to chat and “giggle” as she says. :)

Watching my daughter laugh with joy. She does this quite regularly for which I’m glad.

Earlier this week, I squeezed in a walk on a rushed, rainy morning with my dog Gertrude. We were walking past a middle school just as students were being dropped off, many of whom were going on a ski trip.

I had just curbed my dog and turned around to find a young girl standing nearby, duffel bag and skis in hand. She smiled at me and said simply, “You have a beautiful weimaraner!”

Her observation echoed my heart, and reminded me how fortunate I am to have Gertie in my life, and how much joy she brings to our family.

When my fiance told me he would destroy the world for me. >=) Nah, it was when he told me that someday we’re going to have a wonderful life together, because he remembers from his past life…that made me tear up a bit :’)

@mcbealer Yes dogs certainly make a difference to our lives don’t they :))

Every time I hear from my best friend, I melt a little. Recently he told me that any guy would be lucky to be with me.
This guy I just started dating called me his girlfriend for the first time. I’ve laid out all my baggage and he still wants me despite everything. I don’t think my heart has ever melted so much.
A new friend shared something with me that they hadn’t shared with anyone else. He called me today just to check in. His honesty and thoughtfulness have touched my heart.

When my friend said to me that: “I am the most happy person. You wanna know why? Because I found YOU.”

This morning. A petrol tanker rolled over (hope the driver is fine) and access to the roads I use to get to work was blocked off totally. Second day in a new job, I was a bit stressed. My husband came home and let me follow him along a totally different route that I didn’t know so I could get back onto the main highway and carry onto work. Took him about 45 minutes and then he had to drive back to work. He didn’t need to do that. He could have just tried to explain where I needed to go, but he knew I was stressed. He isn’t a poetic sort of man. He tells me he loves me but he isn’t going to say anything beautiful and poetic, but he does things often that make my heart melt. As the saying says, actions speak louder than words and this morning I just felt so blessed to have him.
