How much do people charge for tutoring these days?

I’m thinking about tutoring Spanish for jr. high and high school children. I used to tutor math 25 years ago, I have no idea what the going rates are. Also, how long does the tutor typically spend with the student in one session? One hour, an hour and a half? Twice a week?
Please let me know what part of the country (USA) you are quoting prices from.

A lot! For highschool subject roughly $60 to $50 at the most
For college it could be more
I have heard about $70, $80, $90 at the very most
For middle school it could be less
Learning centers charge outrageous amounts of money. i think least is $1 per minute.
Everything here is for 1 on 1 tutoring.
Not a very helpful post but this is all I know.
The spread for tutor rates is quite broad, and is tied to qualifications. If you are certified to teach or have translator certification, you can charge more. A friend who teaches middle school charges $40 an hour for general tutoring, student comes to her home. Parents were expected to wait. This included 5 minutes of getting settled in, 50 minutes of instruction, and 5 minutes to review tutoring session with a parent. She does it at home because she can book students back-to-back. Materials are extra.
Southern Ohio area.
I have the impression that $50 – $ 70 per hour is the going rate.
It’s more than I would have expected.
It also probably varies greatly by region of the country.
Curious. When I inquired about this a few years ago, talking to an instructor at a nearby state university about possible opportunities there, she told me the rates were really low, in the $15 to $20 range. This is in Northern California.
Possibly there is a big (big) difference between what the institution charges and what the tutor actually receives? or are these rates for private tutoring?

$15—$20 sounds like something a tutor would receive who works in a tutoring/learning center by their employers like Sylvan ,Huntington. There is a big difference between what the tutor receives and what the student/parent pays to the learning institution. In a lot of cases the tutors are completely unaware of what the learning institution is charging its students/customers. The rates that i quotes are for 1 on 1 tutoring. And the prices are for math in San Francisco. I should have mentioned that earlier.
For Spanish, I think the going rate is $50 at least and sessions usually last an hour. so basically $50/hour for whenever the student needs it.
For an independent tutor, I suspect $15 – $20 an hour is the going rate. If you want to go through an agency, you would pay a lot more.
Well, the site @BarnacleBill provided, I went back to it and put in my zip code, looks like the average is around $20 an hour. From what I can tell you can’t enter the subject the student needs help with to narrow the search?
I’ll probably talk to one of the schools next week, and see what info they can provide me.
Thanks everyone.
Well, I tutor on campus through a work-study program. Tutors are paid $10/hr. While that does not seem like much, there are days where I tutor noone during my hours. Yet, I still get paid.
