Can you name the name of your favorite episode of your favorite show?
Do you pay attention to the episode names, or just go with “The one where…”?
Mine is “The One With The Cop” from F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and that is how they actually put the episode names.

“The Girl from the Black Organization and the University Professor Murder Case” from Detective Conan.
That was the episode where my favourite character first appeared.
I simply don’t pay attention to the episode names. I usually go, ‘you know, the one where….’
One of my favorite series was the “Dick Van Dyke Show,” and one of the funniest episodes was called “It May Look Like a Walnut.” Rob has a nightmare about aliens in the form of walnuts taking over his house and turning everyone in the cast into zombie-like aliens themselves. Hilarious from start to finish. There’s also a very touching episode of the old “Andy Griffith Show” about Opie killing a bird with a slingshot and having to suffer the guilt, not to mention the requisite lecture from Andy.
The episode “33” of Battlestar Galactica. It’s technically the first episode, since there was a miniseries that preceded it. The Cylons attack every 33 minutes…
Also “Sometimes a Great Notion” (BSG). When the shit really starts to hit the fan.
I don’t usually pay attention to the episode titles of most shows, but I started watching BSG on DVD, so the titles stuck with me.
“Turkeys Away” from WKRP in Cincinnati.
There are two, and I can name them both because I recommend them constantly – “Hush” from Season 4 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and “The Body” from Season 5 of the same. The first is the creator’s reaction to everyone complimenting on how his scripts were great because of the dialogue – he writes a script where, at the beginning, everyone loses their voice. The second is perhaps the best portrayal of how things happen – the feeling of it all – following a death.
PS – as superficially childish the creator’s reactive scripting of a story with no dialogue, “Hush” was the only episode in the series nominated for an emmy.
It’s either “How to Recognise Different Types of Trees From Quite a Long Way Away” from the first series of Monty Python’s Flying Circus or “Déjà Vu” from the second series of that show. Those have the highest number of sketches that will always get me rolling.
From a regular show, it’s “Grapes of Wrath” from the first series of Black Books. “Right now, I’m eating scrambled eggs. With a comb. From a shoe.”
I have no idea which Seinfeld episode it was as it’s been a long time since I’ve seen it. In one of the episodes Elaine is listening to someone talk who is in front of her with their back to her. She turns her head and and makes a series of faces, behind this guy’s back, demonstrating how stupid/asinine/ridiculous what he is saying is to her.
Then there is Curb Your Enthusiasm. Season 1 – Beloved Aunt. Larry is asked to write the obituary of Cheryl’s aunt. Somehow the paper replaces the “a” in aunt with a “c”. OMG I laughed so hard!
@aprilsimnel I saw that episode of Black Books, and I remember him saying that, ya, I laughed, cool, but I’ve seen hardly any of them.
X Files – “Home”
The Office – “Cafe Disco”
Seinfeld….god it’s been so long. I’ve seen every episode so many times, but now I can’t remember the name…..but it’s the one where Kramer likes Jerry’s girlfriend….“I even like her name…Pam….PAM….Pam!!!!”
“Hell is Other Robots” – Futurama (though it’s hard to pick one episode as my favorite)
I almost always know episode names, even for long series like The Simpsons. I also understand all the musical references in Cowboy Bebop. I’d make a great “angry geek snob” if I had time to hang out in comic book shops.
City On The Edge Of Forever
I don’t really watch any tv shows now, so i’m going to say Fawlty Towers: The Germans. Blast from the past there.
“Hard Day’s Pete” from the series The Adventures of Pete and Pete.
“Nightcrawlers” is probably my second favorite episode.
Once More With Feeling from Buffy.
Series 2, Episode 6 of The Wire – “It don’t matter that some fool say he different…” [each episode takes its title from a quote from the dialogue] – mainly for the brilliant courtroom scene between Omar and Levy.
“High Holidays”- Frasier
Niles tries to rebel by getting high on weed, but ends up getting Martin, his dad, high instead. Absolutely hilarious!
Most of these shows are/were not on cable.
Oh.
Right now, I only have Netflix.
Cool! My favorite TV show is Friends too. My favorite episode is probably “The One with the Embryos”
