Study. Make sure you get a several hour study session in shortly before class.
Put all the things you need to know on flash cards or use an online service like Quizlet. Go over them until you feel confident you have them. Review a few times up until the day before your test and then take a break. Get a good night’s sleep and eat a good meal.
If you’ve recorded lectures or notes, listening to them while you sleep will help you retain the information.
Make up your own practice questions, and answer them in depth. Ones that you can’t answer right off. (You know… that certain topic you really can’t be bothered to check, and then it some how manages to appear…)
DO NOT cram or overstudy the night before. It’s best to get some study sessions in days in advance. The night before finals should be used a a review session (not the time to learn the information).
When studying try to relate the topics to something in your life or somehting you are intersted in. Making it personal enances the ability to remember it.
Also try to have a little fun when studying it. Don’t go into studying with the attitude “Man, I got to study”.
Don’t try to get all the information in at once. Break up the materials into sections and focus on one section at a time.
Talking out loud is also a great technique. Not only are you reading the material, but you are also hearing it being said. The more senses you can involve the better.
Make sure to get a good nights sleep before and eat breakfast. Remember, take your time.
During your revision, condense your notes by hand and then, once you’ve completed this, condense them further by hand. We find it easier to learn when writing by hand than using a keyboard
Write your notes again, recite them, read them over, picture the notes in your head by; looking at the index card with the information on it. 2. Read it over a few times. 3. Put the index card down and try to picture the information in your head by focusing on it.4. Say it out loud a few times. Keep practicing these techniques.Good luck.
