What are your thoughts on extending unemployment benefits indefinitely?

Earthgirl's avatar

Dutchess_III Shall we post that question to him? Why not!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Well, yes. I, personally think that the Unlimited Unemployment Plan is contributing greatly to the unemployment numbers. Now, be a good girl and go ask him.

WestRiverrat's avatar

Why bother? He probably has someone already out there asking the questions he wants to answer.

Worth a shot. OK @Earthgirl. Go! Now! On your mark! Get set! Tell him “This question is from Valerie in Kansas.” GO!

How will you reform Social Security and Medicare to begin to reduce the national debt?

JLeslie's avatar

Will you stop stealing from Social Security? I am tired of the money being taken from there and used for other things.

Earthgirl's avatar

Dutchess_III Ha, I just submitted it. there were only 57,000 some odd questions before you! I recommend not holding your breath for an answer!

Why condoning Israeli settlements in occupied territory?

JLeslie's avatar

@mattbrowne He seemed to avoid talking about Israel. I heard Brzezinski this moring hypothesizing either something big is about to happen, good, and best not to mention the topic; or, the US is pulling back and things might get very bad between Israel and the Palestinians, and other nearby countries will be pulled in.

thank you thank you @Earthgirl!

mattbrowne's avatar

@JLeslie – Obama should make it very clear that new settlements are totally unacceptable. That’s the EU’s position.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Thanks but….WHAT is @mattbrowne talking about??

Dutchess_III's avatar

That still doesn’t tell me anything guys. What about Israel?

JLeslie's avatar

@Dutchess_III That Israel is building communities on land that many feel is not rightfully theirs to settle on. Here is a link to explain it better. Many see it as an aggressive act, and that it shows Israel is willing to ignore agreements.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Man….can’t they all just get along?

JLeslie's avatar

@Dutchess_III It would be nice. The majority of Israelis want to get along, and don’t agree with the settlements. You have probably seen our own Zen here on fluther say he would be willing to make incredible compromises for peace. Most Israelis are like him.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Is it power? What keeps this fight alive??

JLeslie's avatar

@Dutchess_III Both sides think they are right I guess? And, a lack of trust. There was a good proposal during Clinton, but the Palestinians in the end did not agree to it.

mattbrowne's avatar

Part of it is religious fanaticism. Ownership of land 3000 years ago is being turned into claims made today. It just doesn’t work this way. Two wrongs don’t make a right. What would happen if the descendants of the people who had settled the land before Moses went into Israel today telling people to leave Tel Aviv so they can build their new settlements?
