If you could have a "personal attendant" for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

Asked by 6rant6 (13705points) January 26th, 2011

I’m thinking not of an individual but of a job – something that might have different people fulfilling it.

But the point is you would be guaranteed personal service by someone for the rest of your life. So this is the chance to offload what you really hate or get something you really want. Just one thing, and as long as you live.

So, do you want a cook? A bookkeeper? Someone to drive you? Pooper scooper? A concubine? Masseuse? Maybe you have something in mind that there isn’t even a name for. What’ll it be and why is that your heart’s desire?

oh boy, this would be cool. If there could be someone to help me with my disabled wife, like make sure she gets to her DR appts on time and asks the doc the right questions. It’s hard to do that when you’re up to bat and time is ticking. Then I wouldn’t miss as much work. Or hell, we all 3 could go and make a day of it. If he could drive that would be a plus. On those days when there are no Dr’s appts the guy would go on my jobs with me and help a little bit. I would also have him along when my dog and I go to mountains. I’m sure he would like that.

A valet. I hate doing laundry, and I would love to have someone who just took care of my clothes, kept my closet organized, and laid my clothes out for me each day. They could also make my bed in the morning too.

A personal chef.

Another vote for hairstylist. I wouldn’t have to pay for haircuts I don’t like, she’d know exactly how I like it and she can see the back!

It has to be a driver, because I’m not able to drive, and never will be.

A personal moderator. I know a lot of people have issues with the moderation here sometimes and I do to but that doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t want one of my very own! Think of it. If you said something really stupid or ignorant or hurtful your personal moderator would simply remove it. No more “jeez, I wish I hadn’t said that!” Or if you impulsively revealed some personal information and immediately regretted it, no problem, your personal moderator removes it. And if, in the heat of an argument, you said something really hurtful to your SO or someone else you care about, the mod would take care of it. Of course, in this situation (in the situations mentioned above it would depend on the comment) the deleted utterance would be replaced with “Response moderated (Unhelpful)” or “Response moderated (Personal Attack)” but either way, not only would you not have really hurt your SO’s feelings but they wouldn’t be able to keep bringing it up in every single argument the two of you have from then on.

I’d like a personal chef, who maybe does a bit of housework?

A good old-fashioned housekeeper. The kind that not only dusts and vacuums, but also does laundry, dishes, windows and occasionally cooks. Not a live-in one, though. S/he’d come to work daily, but go back home in the evenings.

I’m with @augustlan. A housekeeper. I would even be willing to throw in room and board.

Or a handyman – someone to come and do all the projects that need doing that I don’t have the time or knowledge to tackle on my own. That could be a part-time job.

Mine must be identical twins, dwarfs & have a valid passport recognising them as citizens of Madagascar. One could buff my shoes as & when I require, while the other I could utilise as a comfy foot rest during the aforementioned procedure. I shall name them Spick & Span, they will of course be rewarded handsomely for their services. Provided they’re up to the task that is, I do like a shiny shoe.

I want a man built like Hercules so that I could hang on his back like a monkey. ;)

Auggie has it…..Housekeeper!!

Yup, definitely a housekeeper. I’m not much for housework, and someone to clean up the place would be fantastic. (Bonus points if he’s cute and muscly.)

I’d feel weird about having an actual person looking after my stuff, but I would go for an android servant.
As a bonus, I could program it to do everything on the list! But it would have to be a Data-grade android, not a C-3PO.

I would probably just have an “Alfred”. He’s there to cook, clean, cut my hair, sew up rips in my Bat-suit, you name it.
