Why do I feel that we are, question by question, doing a homework assignment for you.
I hope you tell us what your opinions are at the end of these q’s. I am curious to see what answers you go with for your assignment.
To answer the question. I am pretty sure Obama opened back up the research and has provided funding for said research. By the way Bush never made it illegal to do embryonic stem cell research, he just restricted federal funds.
@marinelife Honestly, no. I’m concerned about this because I was on Youtube where there was a video talking about stem cells and abortions with Obama and another related video of a recent video of the 90 Pregnant Teens of a Memphis High school. I just want to see how other people feel about it and was wondering also about embryo-stem-cells.Because in my opinion, I think it’s ridiculous to not believe in abortions and have hard working people paying taxes for others that hardly do anything to help themselves and that get pregnant out of wedlock.
@ladyv900 In Memphis it has a lot to do with religion, and culturally it is accepted. I know more teens in Memphis who have children, white and black, than any other place I have ever lived. The school in Memphis is a school students transfer to sometimes when they get pregnant, because it has a special program for pregnant students from what I understand, so that partocular school sounds like pregnanvy is out of control, but it is a decepetive number.
@JLeslie No offense to anyone on here but of course it occurs in that ghetto part. I also can’t stand when people glamourize about it too.
@ladyv900 I am not sure what you mean? Do you mean in the ghetto there are more teen moms? Plenty of girls not in the ghetto get pregnant, but I think they are more likely to get abortions, maybe not? But, here in the Memphis area I know three white teens who have babies, well, their parents are the people I know, and they do not live in the ghetto. I just think because of religion they just don’t consider abortion.
@JLeslie Sorry I didn’t mean to make it sound that way, I just cant stand those kind of people, especially ever since growing up. I didn’t mean the area,I meant the ones that act ghetto like being violent, vulgar, deagrading, etc. Most of those kinds don’t respect theirselves and most likely to get pregnant or multiple pregnancies with no care in the world like it’s cute. But I understand the other parts you’re saying though.Just glad I’m not like those kind of girls and more focus in education.
@ladyv900 No need to apologize, I was not offended. I think it is a huge problem too. In my opinion teens having babies is a huge factor contributing to why we continue to have so much poverty. Keep studying, and keep asking questions :).
Thanks :-) I only said sorry is because some people find that word as offensive and racist, especially if you say it in certain places or on Yahoo Answers. And I’m like “huh” I don’t get it because those kind of people call themselves and call each other ghetto but when it’s someone else they get mad.And it’s stupid some label it as a racist word when it’s suppose to describe an area where the Jews use to locate in.I shake my head with those kind of people and thank you for answering this post.
@ladyv900 Oh. I had not even understood that you meant the word ghetto is offensive. Good you explained. I guess that word has evolved. Maybe ghetto has a more negative connotation, and now the assumption is black ghetto. Even though, of course you are right the word was used for Jewish ghettos and others in the past. I would have to look up the definition in the dictionary to know how it is defined now. For sure it means a poor area I would guess, as opposed to just a section of town that has a lot of similar people living in it. And it also implies they are sort of separate from the rest of the community or adjacent society I guess. I never thought about it. Interesting. People are too easily offended. Stick around fluther the people here are wiling to discuss difficult topic without getting personally all wound up in a knot. Well, for the most part, there are exceptions on fluther of course.
Do you live in Memphis? Are you in favor of them letting go of the school charter?
@JLeslie only a little while in junior high and 9th grade is like how I was describing the kids before, the way the kids act and it’s like the school system and their own parents cant control of what they do.I couldn’t learn in that kind of enviroment, they picked fights with for no reason, and moved too because my parents said the girls there are a bad influence to be around and only thinking about boys, and now I’m not very suprised how they’re living now while I graduated high school, those same students didn’t.Wish the presidents and the one we have now took this seriously also those kinds of students shouldn’t be allowed in school at all if all they think about is sex and having that “gangsta mentality” disrupting the learning enviroment.
Well, then, to answer your question Obama ended the ban on funding for stem cell research.
Washington Post
@ladyv900 So you are in favor of expelling those kids and letting them live a messed up life? You don’t think we should waste any time or money trying to get them on a better path? Why do you think they are like that? Just born bad? Bad families? Messed up neighborhood? Do you think they enjoy being like that? Don’t know any better? This is something I think about a lot. How to fix this problem in our society. I am interested in Public boarding schools like the SEED program. Do you think if those kids went away to school, out of the crime filled neighborhoods they would be different people?
Obama thinks stem-cell research holds great promise and that medical science should be free to explore it in responsible fashion. Bush was agin’ it.
