Yes, but it’s very rare.

Absolutely. It is significantly less common in men than women, but it does happen.

ETA: Damn, got ninja’d.

If I’m not mistaken they can, but its technically a different kind of cancer. If I remember correctly with women its cancer in their breast tissue (like the milk producing kind), while with men its more of a localized tumor that you could get anywhere on the body.

Don’t quote me on that though, I’m just “pretty” sure I had heard/read that.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “In men, breast cancer can happen at any age, but is most common in men who are between 60 and 70 years old. Male breast cancer is not common. For every 100 cases of breast cancer, less than 1 is in men.”

@tedd According to the National Cancer Institute:

The following types of breast cancer are found in men:

Infiltrating ductal carcinoma: Cancer that has spread beyond the cells lining ducts in the breast. Most men with breast cancer have this type of cancer.
Ductal carcinoma in situ: Abnormal cells that are found in the lining of a duct; also called intraductal carcinoma.
Inflammatory breast cancer: A type of cancer in which the breast looks red and swollen and feels warm.
Paget disease of the nipple: A tumor that has grown from ducts beneath the nipple onto the surface of the nipple.
Lobular carcinoma in situ (abnormal cells found in one of the lobes or sections of the breast), which sometimes occurs in women, has not been seen in men.

Yes – a friend’s husband got it.

Both of my grandparents had breast cancer – my grandma and my grandfather. It happened to be on the same side for each of them, so when they had that tissue removed, they joked that they fit together like a Yin/Yang symbol when they hugged.

So, yes. Yes they can.
