I'm looking to get a stackable front-loader washer/dryer combo. What do you have that you love or hate?

I love my Samsung washer and dryer but they are full size, if you stack them they would be 6 foot 4 inches high. The cost would also be over $2300 before tax but you may get them on sale for less. If this combo is going in a closet or confined area you have to look at dryer on top of washer( one piece ) or combo washer/dryer.

I have the LG and I love it. It uses less water, but it does take longer to wash things. It does a good job getting the dirt out without presoaking and it really spins most of the water out so things dry faster. My only gripe is that the dryer, when you set it on LESS DRY (their damp dry option) shuts of too soon and you have to keep putting it on over and over in order to get the right level of dryness without frying your clothes and shrinking the hell out of your jeans (which, if they are like mine, are already too tight because you always buy new jeans right after you reach your diet goal, right? or maybe that’s just me, lol)

I hate my LG, but I know many people who like theirs, and it gets high marks on Consumer Reports. It is great for delicates and my wash does come out clean. But, After the wash is done you have to dry the bottom of the rubber part at the opening or it gets moldy (unless you literally do two loads a day, then probably you would not have a problem, or if you use a lot of bleach, which I don’t). Where I put the soaps also does not competely drain well, and so that can get icky also. Also, Sometimes I want to be able to soak my clothes. There are fewer choices for soaps in HE. You can use regular soaps, but I don’t like doing it. The cycle takes FOREVER.

My LG dryer has sensors, and so supposedly you cannot use dryer sheets. I like dryer sheets better than liquid softener, so I had to change that reluctantly. The no wrinkle function does work very well.

Some of the things I named will be the case with almost all the front loads probably.

I have the LG steam washer & dryer. I love them so much. However, my complaint would be that they shake the entire house. I hear this gets worse with stacking (mine are side by side) in recent years LG has made them shake less with some new technology. Make sure they’re being put on a concrete slab. I was told that was a must for stacking because the center of gravity.

I currently have a Fisher and Paykel HE top loading machine. It has all the benefits of the front loaders without all the problems. While I am familiar with HE detergents and the long cycles involved in doing a load with less water, I have to get a stackable set. We’ve moved from a house to an apartment and the laundry closet is just that, a closet. So there is no way for me to continue to use my HE top loader and have a dryer. I’m just sick of having to drag my clothes out to the laundry to dry them.

@Claire_Fraser There are inexpensive stacked washer dryer units that are top load. The negative about them is they tend to be very basic, and cannot take a very large load.

If I were going to try another HE front load I would look at Whirlpool or Kitchen Aid, only because I tend to be very happy with their large appliances, however I have no experience with their front load washer and dryers, not sure what Consumer Reports says.
