What do people think of private or anonymous questions (see details)

Asked by weeveeship (4665points) February 2nd, 2011

Sometimes, people ask questions that are NSFW or that might be interpreted against them if someone else they know in real life sees them. I am wondering if Fluther has a way for users to post either (1) anonymously or (2) in such a way that allows only logged-in users of Fluther to see.

If there is no such feature, I would like to suggest one. What do you all think of this?

No one pays attention to this. We all have NSFW issues; that’s what makes us human.

If you have an anonymous username, you will be fine. Only members of fluther can get online here, I believe.

And I don’t think “limiting” availability to members is really doing much. A swell group and all, but the bar is nor really set too high.

Most people create a separate identity for when they want to ask a question like that.

Or just admit: I’m a psychotic, bi-sexual, bi-polar neurotic psycho. Now I can ask anything and not give a fuck what anyone thinks of the question.

They are not making changes to the site right now. Also, wundayatta is correct. Usually people create a separate account to ask questions they don’t want attached to their identity.

@gailcalled Through Google, the pages of Fluther are available to anyone.

Hmm what is NSFW? I have seen it but I don’t know what it is?

gailcalled's avatar

(Not Safe for Work); The implication is that the question will be bawdy, racy, pornographic, overly-detailed, ribald, indecent, off-color, salacious, prurient…well, you get the point.

Oooh Ty Gail. Now I know!

most people are at work when they ask?

gailcalled's avatar

No; It’s simply the current catch-phrase for PG-13 ratings.

fluther is the only place I’ve seen that acronym. Is it in other places? I’ve always wanted to ask about this but didn’t want to look out of touch~ even if i am really~

Feel free to ask anything. Each of us is out of touch with something. It’s the “in” thing here.’
