Men, how's your hair?

Asked by Hawaii_Jake (37749points) February 4th, 2011

Mine is in serious retreat. My first noticeable receding hairline was about 10 years ago. Now, it’s quite far back and is thinning out on top to the point that I have to put sun screen on it at the beach.

(I’m 47, by the way.)

Do you still have a full head of hair? Did yours thin out long ago?

What’s up with your hair?

I’m only 25 and mine has always been pretty thin. Now, I’m starting to notice that my culd-de-sacs are going deeper. My dad is mostly bald on top, so I’m assuming that’s where I’m headed. :O

33 here. I usually get my hair buzzed, but it grows out just fine. Don’t really have a history of receding hairlines in the family =knock on wood=

I’m OK on top but my forehead is getting bigger and bigger.

No receding here, my hair is as healthy as ever (25 btw). However, if genetics play a huge role, it could be completely white and balding by 40. Ouch. Here’s hoping that doesn’t happen.

My husband claims his is receding but I don’t notice it. He has a great barber and his hair always looks good.

I just want to chime in and say that bald is sexy. ;)

54. Full head of hair. But while I wasn’t looking, someone went and sprayed this silver-colored paint on my hair, and no matter how hard I try, I can’t wash it out.

Thanks, @ANef_is_Enuf . I’ve known some very sexxxy bald men.

@wundayatta : Have you tried washing with Grecian Formula 16?

Shaved to within an inch of it’s life. The wife loves it that way….me too :¬)

Have had a receding hairline, bigger forehead, since I was 13 years old. Lot older now and forehead is starting down the back of my head. LOL

My hair’s in perfect condition right now; no receding noticeable (and I know someone who seems to already be going bald at 19!) Baldness is not common in my family, so I hope it doesn’t happen to me. :P

I’m 26. My hair is thick, and has been growing pretty quickly in the last few months. Must be all that healthy eating and taking vitamins and such.

I’m 60 and have notice a lot of thinning in the last 10 years. I tried laser light and chemical treatments to no avail. I keep it cut short as it is easy to manage and it looks better that way I think. No way am I going for the comb over, whig or surgical in plants. Frankly at this late date I just don’t give a damn about my hair.

55, and I have a reverse mohawk. It started its retreat when I was 35, and was gone at 45.

@hawaii_jake I am older than you and still got most of it and no gray! I have been thinking of the Princess Leia look for the ear hair though!

cookieman's avatar

I’m 39 with a full head of hair. Starting to go grey though.

I’m with the Nefster on this. Bald is sexy. But so is silver. And salt n pepper. Aw, hell, men are sexy whatever the hair…

@Cruiser : You know, they sell these little trimmers for nose and ear hair. Just sayin’.

Still have a full head but it is thinning on top. When someone comes up with a butt-to-head hair transplant, give me a call. I figure I’ll be good for another 30 years.

silvery-white thick as wire.

I’m a female but I felt compelled to answer. My thyroid is very hard to stabalize and when it bounces around I lose my hair. I would say I have 25% less then before this nightmare started, when it is really bad 40% less. It falls out all over, but it is most noticeable at my part. It is not so bad that people really notice I don’t think? But, my husband knows when I am in a time of lsoing hair again, he points out how my hair is thinning. It sucks. Totally freaks me out. The worst part is if your thyroid levels move outside of normal it takes at least 6 weeks to get it back in line, and sometimes longer, and so that is weeks more of losing hair at fast rates even when you know something is wrong and you are trying to correct it.

Oh, and my husband has beautiful thick, black, wavy hair. Awful when your husband has better hair than you. Not that I wish him bad hair, I just want my to be more fantabulous than his. But, it never was anyway.

My hair is thinning and receding a little at the temples, but I still have full coverage. I’m only 28, though. When it starts getting bad, I’m just going to shave it all off and go bald.

@JLeslie : You’re more than welcome to answer. I also have a wonky thyroid, so I share your pain.

My ex-husband started balding at a fairly young age, and for a few years had hair that made him look just like George Costanza on Seinfeld. When I got my butt-length hair cut super short one day, he finally got up the courage to shave his head. I have to say, he looked so much better bald! Younger, too.
