What is the hands-down-best, as-close-to-nature-as-it-gets cosmetic brand?
I have been experimenting with olive oil, apple cider vinegar, etc. in my beauty routine, but I am exhausted. I am looking for an “as few syllables in the ingredients” kinda thing. For example, I’m looking at the Yes to Carrots products, but even they have some ingredients that I can’t identify.
In your jellyrific experience, what are the best natural/organic face care/cosmetic brands you’ve used? Mail-order only is fine.
Note: I have very fair, easy to irritate skin that will break out in the T-zone.

Lavera is good but very high priced. Skin Genesis by Loreal is OK. Don’t buy products that contain paraben. It is a known Carcinogen. Some of the Skin Genesis line have no paraben.
Lavera.com is on line.
If you goggle natural make up you will find decent make up.

Make them yourself and I can help you.
I love MyChelle Dermaceuticals. It isn’t 100% granola, down-to-dirt hippie, but it is the only line that has ever controlled my acne, and releases every ingredient in its booklet, most of which are completely organic.
Oh… some of the ingredients might sound like strange chemicals, but when you know what they are, you realise that they really are quite harmless.
One of the nicest products, but most annoyingly marketed (because it was a multilevel marketing scheme thing, but a few of their products were really good) was something called Neways. They had a deep cleaning facial cleaner that helped my acne and a facial moisturiser that completely changed the feel of my face. I can’t get it where I live now and it’s been years so I have no idea if they have the same stuff or if they’ve gotten more annoying in their marketing. I heard they had some pretty nasty tactics in the US.
@tedd are you talking about the olive oil? I use olive oil on my face daily. My best friend has incredibly acne prone skin, and the olive oil has actually improved her skin.
The health food store near my house carries a line of mineral makeup that is completely natural. I can’t think of the name of it (I’ll come back when I do), but I just wanted to say that if you are prone to oiliness or breakouts, mineral makeup might be the route to go. Just avoid any that contain bismuth oxychloride. Some people find it very irritating, and if your skin is sensitive, you may have a similar issue.
Oh def, I was so wary about oil washing but it is amazing.
I really like rice bran oil for oil washing. It has heaps of vitamin E in it and it’s a really light oil. In the super dry winter months here, I make a ‘mousse’ of rice bran oil and shea butter and it goes on my face, arms, legs and feet. Other people seem to love it too. I sell quite a bit of it. No water in it, so no parabens.
@cazzie where do you get that? Is it a grocery item, or would I have to go to a specialty store to find it? I’ve never heard of it.
@SundayKittens I wasn’t wary before I began, but my skin is terribly dry. I’m not prone to breakouts.. but I can understand why someone would be. I don’t ever see myself stopping now, my skin is so much better behaved since I started with the oil cleansing.
@SundayKittens yes, only olive oil. My friend with the more acne prone skin uses an olive oil/caster oil blend. You?
I really like Aubrey Organics.
I’ve been using them for about 30 years now.
I’ve heard that eating lots of berries and drinking lots of water can really help your complexion, especially in terms of maintaining your youthful appearance.
