Today is the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' first performance at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, did you know this and how come Google missed it?
Just an oversight I’m sure, but a pity nevertheless. How would anyone contact Google to let them know such stuff anyway? Could have had a great doodle there.

Really! I’ve seen old video…surely we can find one! SCAVENGER HUNT!
Yep, it was covered on the bbc breakfast show this morning, they also said that Cilla Black worked there as a young girl. and some old footage from August 1962 <hugs @Dutchess_III>
huggles xx
Man!!! You want to say, “OK Kids! Straight to beddie after this!” I couldn’t tell…was that Pete Best on drums?
They were so darn cute, I just wanna pinch those widdle cheeks!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but The Beatles suck.
Thank you for linking that, @bunnygrl. That was great to watch. While I missed that club scene by 20 years, it brought back a lot of memories for me of my youth.
It’s also the anniversary of their first appearance on Ed Sullivan, watched by 73 million people, a record at the time.
How did they get from the Cavern in Germany to Ed Sullivan on the same day??
@Dutchess_III : Teleported?
I think @zenvelo means the same date, different year.
But I bet you knew that, huh.
leave me ALONE! pickin’ on me. flag flag flag! I’m tellin’!
@bunnygrl You’d think so, but you’d be wrong.
I kinda sorta agree with bob, as far as musical talent goes. I mean, compare to Etta James, Nat Cole, Bob Seagar, even Aero Smith. However, they did something, somehow, had something somehow else had heard or seen before, and therin lies their historical fame.
OMG, was that ever a great show! I was standing just a few feet away from the lads and was blown away by their energy, tunes and harmonies, although I thought their lyrics were a bit juvenile. Right next to me a a young woman—she was what they called a “bird”—screamed and fainted dead away when Paul did a solo. Amazingly, I saw exactly the same thing years earlier when I was at the Paramount theater in NYC watching a skinny 20s-something sensation named Frank Sinatra sang with the Benny Goodman orchestra. The girls—they were called “bobbysoxers”—were going crazy. The girl right next to me screamed and fainted dead away when Frankie stepped off that huge platform that had risen from under the stage. I was one of the few young men in the audience. Many years later, the exact same thing happened at one of Elvis early appearances on the Steve Allen TV show. I was in the studio audience, and the woman sitting next to me screamed and fainted dead away when he started shaking his leg. It was the most embarrassing thing my mother ever did! Then there was the time I was in the audience at a Justin Bieber concern… but that’s another story.
@Austinlad It ever occur to you that women were fainting all around YOU for another reason? Heh!

@bunnygrl, sorry to disappoint you, but I made all that up. It’s based on fact, though. I do a lot of reading.

@lloydbird :-) you changed your link in the post above mine (original link led back to this page) and I’m glad you did. Thank you for linking the article at the BBC, I really enjoyed reading it. The BBC were running a piece on the aniversary yesterday morning on the breakfast show, but I saw it again last night before I headed off to bed, on the BBC New24 channel. Thanks again, I would have missed that article if you hadn’t sent the link <hugs> xx
My pleasure @bunnygrl . You are such a huggy bear. :-)
