At times, do you tend to love animals (pets) more than people?

Asked by Jude (32204points) February 9th, 2011

I swear, they’re easier to deal with.

You know what I’m sayin’?

I know what you’re sayin’

Yup. My cats may be demanding when it’s breakfast time, but otherwise they don’t talk back. They just listen while I rant and then kiss me.

tinyfaery's avatar

For me it’s most of the time.

The more I know people the more I love my dogs.

If I could get a decent job working with animals for the rest of my life, I’d be happy.

Oh, yeah. Although I do appreciate that humans tend to use the bathroom, taking Zup outside on some of these cold and icy mornings is a bit of a bore.

Yes, you never doubt their love and you never get into arguments with them and they don’t cheat on you or lie to you or give you the cold shoulder.

They don’t embarrass you in public (except in the cases of showing their private parts and sniffing other animals behinds or getting inappropriately amorous with other people’s pets) And they seem to truly appreciate you, even if you smell bad because you haven’t showered or you have bad breath because you just woke up or you are not particularly attractive without makeup and they don’t mind if you are a little bit overweight or if you have a silly laugh and they don’t have a problem with your religious affiliation or political views as long as you give them lots of love and pets and kisses and tummy rubs and make sure that they have enough to eat and enough water to drink and that you clean up their poops and piddles.

Yes.
They’re cuddlier.

Absolutely.

I always joke that my goose is the best man I have ever had. Loyal, devoted, follows me everywhere, doesn’t stay out all night, and is happy with bread and water and a nice salad. No laundry, no snoring, no annoying habits. Yeah…but, I am in men-o-pause now. hahaha

Kardamom's avatar

@Coloma Plus if you heard your man honking (like blowing his nose and hocking up crud) and waddling (because he ate too many hot wings and drank too much beer) you would not find that cute. But honking, waddling geese are super-cute!

@Kardamom

A very picturesque discription!
Yep, I’ll take the geese. Heh

cockswain's avatar

Absolutely not. People can be annoying, but never once has someone I knew walked in a box of shit and then the kitchen counter. Not once has a human torn up the maxi pads in the trash.

I’m kind of a grumpy guy and don’t really like most people, but I definitely like most people better than most animals.

You know that old story about how you can tell who is your best friend? You lock your husband and your dog in the trunk of your car for a half hour and then let them out. You will find out quickly who is your best friend!

I __most__ always prefer my dogs to __most__ people!

absalom's avatar

Yes.

Most of the time I feel that way because I have trouble connecting with people.

I have only felt this way about dogs and certain other animals though. Not cats. Not squirrels. I like them, but not more than most people. (I like most dogs more than I like most people, I guess is what I’m saying.)

This feeling is most intense when I witness, e.g., unjust harm being done to animals.

My feelings toward people and other living things are subdued to begin with. But it is not possible to hate an animal. What reason could there be? I think it’s not even possible to really dislike an animal unless it’s annoying me. And even then I am usually in control and can walk away or displace the animal harmlessly.

People tend to try to control others or are disingenuous, so there’s reason to distrust them. And, though rarely, to dislike them. Animals, because they are generally dumb and powerless, receive from me disinterest at the worst (practically unconditional love at best, as with my own dog).

Joker94's avatar

Yes. They’re waaay cuddlier, and they’ll always know if you’re in a bad mood

Haleth's avatar

Totally. When I come home, my dog pokes his nose between the curtains and waits for me at the windows. Then he runs to the door with his squeaky toy and runs around with the zoomies waiting for me to play with him. After that he flops on his back so I can rub his stomach and he gives me dog kisses. No human is ever that friendly all the time!

I live alone and my family lives out of town , so my cats get so much love they don’t know what to do ! So yes

bunnygrl's avatar

absolutely I do, always. They give you truly unconditional love, and ask so very little in return. Given the choice I’d choose them over humans anyday.
huggles xx

More than anything. I’ve always felt closer to animals. People to me are just… ugh. :/

Cruiser's avatar

No….I would be in sorry shape if a turtle or rabbit were more lovable than the people in my life.

J0E's avatar

Not really. The reason being is I’ve never really had a real pet. We have outdoor cats, that come and go as they please. My dad has two hunting dogs, I never do anything with them. The closest thing to a pet I’ve had is goldfish. So I’ve never really made a connection with an animal.

jonsblond's avatar

Nope. People love is awesome.

intothewoods's avatar

Pretty much constantly. I have way more respect for animals in comparison to people.

mcsnazzy's avatar

Yes. sometimes all I want to do is sit with my dog. I think it is because they dont speak to you, but you can cuddle with them and they make you feel better. Plus with people, you gotta deal with all kinds. Some can make you mad, some just annoy you. Animals are usually just…cute and fun
