What's a purity ring?

If you’re thinking in religious terms, it’s basically to say that you haven’t/will not have sex. At least I’m pretty sure? I could be wrong.

Yet another great Fluther question that I never would have even thought about. I’m curious now.

Purity rings used to be handed out like candy at my private christian elementary grade school.
It’s supposed to be a ring between you and god saying you’ll abstain until marriage. It’s usually accompanied by a ceremony where you tell members of your church or school that you’re doing this as a bond between you and god, and that it’s also there as a reminder for you not to have sex until marriage.

doesnt it involve getting rediculous presents like a car?

when you wear a ring like that it is a promise to god (and your parents and future partner) not to have sex untill you’re married (at wich point it’s suddenly ok to do it as much as you like)

I’m not even sure who’s arguing with who. This isn’t that big a deal, we’re sorry for not being as speedy as possible with your answer iCeskate, it’s just not nice to complain about speed, and then say speed wasn’t important once you get your answer, it makes us feel as though we’re being played. Aside from the fact your answer was given within 10 min of asking the question. That’s all.

@iCeskate, I was referring you to another site because you told us that 10 minutes were too long, you say that people here are rude when we answered your question to help you and you complained about the speed. “Treat others the way you would like to be treated.” You seem to not know the saying yourself…
