Any advice, outside of facebook, for keeping track of birthdays?
Is there something on Google calendar? Could it be as easy as printing a list and putting it on the fridge? Ah, the unpredictable importance of birthdays/remembering stuffz!

There is the time-honored but old-fashioned way of keeping a hand-written date book. It works for me. And it’s available when the power goes out.
@gailcalled totally appreciate that…BUT…can you think of something a bit more integrated?
I have a calendar on my fridge with all birth dates. When the new year rolls around, I get a new calendar and go month by month to ensure all birthdays get added to the new year. It might not be techno savvy, but it’s also handy to write any appointments while I am on the phone making them.
I love my iPhone calander, and outlook will do it for you too.
I use Rainlendar, which I found out about here on fluther.
But just because there could come a day when I need a resource that doesn’t depend on a power supply and can’t fail to boot, I also still maintain a big wall calendar on which I write birthdays and other important events by hand. Transferring special recurring dates from one year’s calendar to the next is an enjoyable New Year’s Day ritual for me.
You could use the calender that your personal computer has built in or cell phone
I do what Pattio suggested, all my important dates are in my work calendar with a reminder. Now if only I could sync notes with my andriod phone…
I never remember the paper things these days. I work with my work calendar all the time. If you use Google or Outlook for your email and managing your time, use that and print out the month each month if you want a paper version too. Stick that on the fridge.
I should add that I get a large calendar from my niece every Xmas (from Apple). It has pictures of her family scattered throughout and pre-printed dates of all of our birthdays, anniversaries etc. I use it as my wall calendar – one page per month with large daily blocks for all appointments, etc.
I put people’s b-days into my phone calendar and make alarm reminders.
A friend gave me a birthday calendar purchased in Holland, but it would be easy to make for yourself. Take piece of poster board 5” x 12” (13 cm x 30 cm) & punch a hole in the middle of the top the top. Divide each side into 6ths. Mark Jan thru June on one side and July thru Dec on the other. Draw lines for the birthday dates, if you wish. Tie 12 inches (30 centimeters) of ribbon, shoe string or cord in a circle. Put one end of the circle through the hole in the top and pull the other end up through cord. Hang it on a door knob.
I use the calendar in my phone, and set it to remind me on the day. Before the day, too, if it’s someone I need to buy a present for. Prior to using the reminder method, I missed more birthdays than I can count.
I have a paper calender on the fridge. I also an automatic email reminder sent the day before – Outlook calendar
Just to be sure, you are aware that Google calendar has an option for sending email.
You could put it in your phone, write it down, or copy it onto you computer !
