The recipe I have calls for ¾ cake of Gulf wax. The wax came in a pack of 4 wax bars. How much of that = ¾ cake

I would think that ‘cake’ and ‘bar’ are the same thing, and use ¾ of one bar.
I agree with @augustlan that “cake” and “bar” are equivalent terms. We talk about a bar of soap but I have heard folks say “cake of soap” and I think the wax and soap look a great deal alike and that it is a regional thing to call it a cake of wax in your recipe.
Is Gulf Wax good for the human body?
@john65pennington Gulf Wax is paraffin and is used in a number of recipes to help chocolate set up faster. There are alternative methods (Baker’s chocolate can be used), but many candy recipes that involve dipping things in chocolate use food grade paraffin.
A number of health dangers have been noted from burning paraffin candles and I can’t imagine that eating a a petroleum by-product can be good for you.
I wonder if substituting food-grade beeswax would work as well?
