@YARNLADY, it’s like a game. Every time you view your public Fluther profile, four of your topics are randomly selected. For instance, when I click your name and view your profile, San Diego, home school, Designing, and education come up. If I refresh the page, a different set of four random topics pops up. Jonsblond is interested in these as a sort of “get to know ya” game.

All fluther says, over and over and over is “Add topics to your profile, and we’ll be able to give you interesting questions!” I’m sick of hearing it, honestly. At least drop the exclamation point, for god’s sake. I’ve been here over two years and haven’t added any topics. You can’t still be that excited about it, can you fluther? Aren’t you a little tired of saying it at this point? Doesn’t the exclamation point ring more than a little hollow for you too by now? :-)

They aren’t topics, they are places I have lived, among others. Wonder why they appear as topics for me. I went to “see all” and they threw in DC which is another place I have lived and tennis, which is a subject I am interested in but is rarely discussed in Fluther.

@DominicX -shoes??? are you a shoe freak? Really how many different kinds of shoes are there for guys, even gay guys interested in their wardrobe, you must enlighten me please.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard – last Wed night we went on a orienteering/running event. It was great fun, we took the dogs too. They gave us a map and we had one hour to find as many check points as we could. We didn’t do real well, but we had such fun running around hunting. There is a series of 4 on consecutive Wednesday nights, maybe we will do better this week.

I don’t know if it was something I said, but now fluther says:

“Add topics to your profile, and we’ll be able to give you interesting questions! To get started, search for topics you’re interested in, like “gardening” or “law”.”

Maybe I’m taking this way too personally, but I’m a little insulted because the implication seems to be that maybe I didn’t really understand the whole concept of topics, that’s why I haven’t added them, that maybe I needed some clues or hints or something as to what topics are. But fluther is still excited about topics! Yeah!, the exclamation point is still there. So, I’ve got to, however begrudgingly, give fluther it’s props for it’s undying enthusiasm in the face of my cynicism, indifference and sometimes utter ineptitude when it comes to the subject of topics.
