General Question

How much is my Grandma Moses print worth? I've tried to look online, but I suppose I don't know where exactly. Google is no help.

It’s about fifty years old, it’s the “Country Fair” painting, but a print. I got it from an old friend, it belonged to his grandmother. It’s in excellent condition, in the same frame she put it in, and not stuck to the glass or the backing. I took it out and put it in plastic. Can anybody help?

I don’t know anything about this but I entered “collectors prints Grandma Moses” and this looked like a good starting place.

That was weird! Thanks, @YARNLADY , I usually check. I meant this one.
Too late for editing the last one, sorry. Try the new one.

This is what a vintage lithograph print of Country Fair is going for on eBay. She was one of the first “mass marketed” artists so I think there just a lot of her stuff, the prints, out there. The eBay price is very low but eBay is where I usually check first.

But, the frame could add to the value of it, it’s hard to know. The only way to know for sure what it’s value is, is to have a professional look at it. Some places, galleries, will do it for free, for something like that.

Look to see if it is signed and dated , and then google the painters name in and see if that helps you . There could also be a trademark on the painting

I’m not sure what city you are in, but you can contact one or many art museums and ask them if they have any kind of appraisal services and ask them if there is a fee or whether they have any events (often an annual event where the appraisal is free or done for a nominal fee). If they don’t, they can usually direct you to someone in your town who can do an appraisal for you.

Here is a website that has listings for several galleries that are selling works by Grandma Moses. You could try contacting them to see if they can give you any information.

You might be able to take you piece onto Antiques Roadshow if you are lucky enough to live near any of the cities that the show will be traveling to. You can also contact them to see if they can refer you to someone who can assist with your appraisal.
