I broke my rock band 2 stock kit red pad how can I fix it?

okay this is for all the players who play rock band and can help, I have rock band 2 stock kit for PS3. I basically put a hole in the middle of the pad where the sensor is. So I took of the whole red pad area and cut out the rubber padding, and replaced it with a very bad drum pad (didn’t work so well) any idea on how to fix it?
