How long does it take to recover from mono?
I had mono in the fall. It totally curtailed my activities for about 6 weeks, but I recovered more quickly than most people said I would. (However, I’m a runner, and I still don’t have my endurance back.) But ever since then, I’ve been sleeping a lot—like 9 to 10 hours a night. Is this normal?

It took my son several months to fully recover.
It took my daughter several months. Did they test you Epstein-Barr virus as well as mono?
In my day, it took a month. But maybe there are different varieties of it. I missed the beginning of college one semester because of it. I don’t remember which one.
Epstein-Barr can lead to chronic fatigue syndrome, which is reoccuring. It’s generally managed by good nutrition, vitamins, lots of sleep, reduced stress. 8 – 10 hours of sleep a night, while it seems like a lot, is really what your body needs. Anything less, especially if you’re in high school, is actually sleep deprivation. Your body will heal itself while you sleep.
If you are still fatigued, you need to see your doctor about it. It is not uncommon for it to take months to be back to normal.
I had mono just after I got out of college and started working. I missed 4 days of work with the acute phase. It took a good six months after that to get back to normal. I could do an eight hour day, but anything over that was exhausting.
