What's your favorite reality show?
The last time this question was asked was a little over 2 years ago, so I thought I’d ask it again, since so many new shows have cropped up.
I’m a big fan of the “real” reality shows, like Intervention, Hoarders, Obsessed, Addicted, My Strange Addiction.
I have no use for most reality competition shows, because they’re heavily edited and staged a lot of the time. The exception to this was Hell’s Kitchen, except their failure to change pretty much anything (including the look of the kitchen/restaurant, even the uniforms) had me bored a few seasons in.

I’m still a big fan of the original “Survivor” as much for the exotic locales as for Jeff Probst’s dimples!
I love House Hunters, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, and Iron Chef America.
Hell’s Kitchen and The Apprentice are my guilty pleasures.
Any of the cooking shows, especially Top Chef and Chopped.
Survivor (1st on my list)
Pawn Stars
American Pickers
Ice Road Truckers
30 Days
Wife Swap
Mantracker
and I still watch reruns of Fear Factor
I watch too much tv in the winter :P
Currently, my mum and younger brother have been watching Storage Wars and Pawn Stars like crack. No Reservations is a great show, too (unless you’re not a fan of Bourdain’s snark.) Even though it is a reality competition show, Top Chef was the first to oust The Amazing Race for a reason: it’s great TV.
i like to watch the a team , stargate
Intervention, Beyond Scared Straight, and Obsession.

Reality shows to me are lukewarm television for the most part, that is, I don’t get excited to watch any of them. I used to like “the apprentice” but haven’t watched it in a long time. I find the novelty of most of these shows wears off pretty quick. Give me a good ‘ol sitcom any day of the week. That said, most of the reality tv I watch these days are cooking competition shows like hell’s kitchen, iron chef, chopped, e.t.c.
Dragons Den not sure if that’s real though
I feel guilty for this, but Jersey Shore. The only reality show I have really ever watched…. but my God for some reason, I can’t get enough! It is one of my very guilty pleasures.
I like American Idol, House Hunters and Chopped.
The only one I watch with any regularity is “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.”

Jersey Shore confuses me.
That’s the only reality show I’ve seen in the last couple of years.
Anything Top Chef and Project Runway, which is funny considering I don’t cook and do not like fashion.
Project Runway. Anything that involves Gordon Ramsay. Who Do You Think You Are? Mythbusters. Ghost Hunters.
I used to like Family Plots, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style, Scare Tactics, Solitary, Last Comic Standing, Who Wants to Be a Superhero?...
If I had guilty pleasures, reality TV would be one of them. I can’t bring myself to feel guilty for liking it, though, because I know most of it is utter crap. I just think it’s okay to like crap.
The first season of the American version of Big Brother was amazing. There were almost no contests or contrivances on the show back then, and it was very interesting watch the guests go stir crazy with nothing to do. The psychological aspect of the show was really great.
They ruined it in Season 2 and I stopped watching. It became a heavily edited contest-driven show in Season 2.
Another great show was Amish in the City. Watching those young Amish people experience the World for the first time was really cool to see.
not really sure how I forgot to mention Ghost Hunters… thanks @MacBean!
The one going on 24/7 right outside in real time. It never ceases to amaze me. Why people spend so much time watching TV when IRL is just a few feet away, never ceases to amaze me as well. I’ll save TV for when they finally capture me and send me off to the nursing home.
@Espiritus_Corvus Good for you. Just because someone spends a little time watching tv doesn’t mean they don’t spend a lot of time outdoors too. =)
i think any reality tv show is a god aweful waste of time due to todays society and their hunger for drama…. the only shows that aren’t a waste of time and aren’t rediculous are, mythbusters (kari is hot =)), remember garage wars?, Reruns of Rob and Big, fantasy factory, little people big world, Overhaulin’, Top Gear UK (US version sucks cuz they have no sense of humor), pimp my ride, anything on CurrentTv, Viva La Bam, Tosh.o, the soup, Nitro Circus, How it’s made, G4TV. None of those have BS drama
@Mr_Grimm
So basically any reality show that isn’t what you like is “a god aweful waste of time”. Thanks for the open mind and acceptance of everyone else’s likes and interests! ~
@ilana no not at all… i ran out of room… im just saying any show with <———————-> that much drama (that a lot by the way xD) are… i think shows should have less drama and more comedy… and reality tv has gotten out of hand
I didn’t mention Top Gear UK because I don’t consider it a reality show…

I am fascinated with Hoarders. It just is so far out of my world that I get that it’s an illness; however, it just baffles me at the same time. I just can’t get past some of the shows where they find flattened cat bodies that have been rotting for who-knows-how-long. If I stop on it, I will stay on it, no matter how I try to pass it up.
I just watched an episode of Beyond Scared Straight. Wow. I’m not sure if I’m hooked, but it was very intense.
Not sure if Fatal Attraction on Animal Planet is considered in this category. I’m drawn to that one, too.
My daughter loves a reality show about plastic surgeries gone wrong.
My favorite reality show is Baseball.
My own life; I have left my job to complete my studies and you know I don’t have money to do so, I will borrow all the money from my friends. I have targeted 1st January 2012 to get into the right job with right salary. You will have to wait till then to see whether I will be able to write that success story or not.(And I am to return all that money in January 2012 so you can judge, what sort of challenge I am facing now)
