On a 12 hour clock, how many times in a day are the hour and minute hand on top of each other?

Say you have standard analog twelve hour clock. You then observe the clock for a day (24 hrs.) and count the number of times that both the minute hand and the hour hand line up exactly on top of each other. How many times does it happen?

Feels like a trick question, but I think 24 times:
Midnight, 1:05am, 2:10am, 3:15am, 4:20am, 5:25am, 6:30am, 7:35am, 8:40am, 9:45am, 10:50am, 11:55am, Noon, 1:05pm, 2:10pm, 3:15pm, 4:20pm, 5:25pm, 6:30pm, 7:35pm, 8:40pm, 9:45pm, 10:50pm, 11:55pm.
@Neurotic_David No, that is not right. If it is 11:55, the minute hand would be on the 11, but the hour hand would be almost on the 12, since it is almost twelve o’clock.
I believe the answer is 24. There is no circumstance in which the minute hand would ever cross the hour hand more than once per hour.
@bkcunningham How did you get that? (I am not calling the answer wrong, I just want to know your logic)

@bkcunningham is correct. 22 times. It takes about 1 hour 5½ minutes for the minute hand to reach the hour hand.
@bkcunningham Are you not missing an hour or two on your table? What happened to 11am and 11 pm?
@WestRiverrat at 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., the minute and hour hands are on the numbers 11 and 12. They aren’t touching then; they touch at 10:54 a.m. and 10:54 p.m. which is representative of those times you mentioned. Right?
@bkcunningham I still think you are missing an hour. There are hourly 12 stations on a standard clock are there not?
Shouldn’t there be at least one occurance for each rotation of each of the 12 stations?
@WestRiverrat As the minute hand goes around the clock, the hour hand moves too. The minute hand only catches up to the hour hand once it is twelve o’clock.
@PhiNotPi has a good way to explain it. The minute hand goes around 24 times in one day, and the hour hand goes around twice. 24–2=22.
Another way of saying pretty much the same thing is to say that the hour hand rotates once per 12 hours and the minute hand rotates 12 times per 12 hours. Relative to the hour hand the minute hand rotates 12 – 1 = 11 times per 12 hours, so if we were sitting on the hour hand (it would have to be a big clock) we would see the minute hand pass us 11 times in 12 hours and 22 times in 24 hours.
13 times if your start at 12 exactly and end on 11:59 because it takes the minute hand a complete hour to rotate. If you start a minute shorter or end a minute shorter than the time is actually 11hrs and 59 minutes.
I had forgotten about this question. One of the first I answered.
I know that from10am to 10pm there is 11.
