Why do my eyelids sometimes swell up when I am asleep?

All sorts of reasons. I have an unexplained edema that results in various parts of my body swelling up while I'm asleep, usually part of my hands or feet, my lips or my tongue. See a doctor, depending on what's going on this can be serious, I've come close to a tracheotomy a couple of times.
