Here’s a nifty little Top Ten of things to do and see while in Madrid. Best of all, most of it seems free or relatively cheap.
A great tip also is to make sure you learn the language. Some consider it rude to go to a country and expect others to make concessions for you when you are the odd man out, so to speak. A great resource for those learning to speak the language of Madrid, and other Spanish speaking countries, is spanishdict.com. Spain does have a touch of a different dialect, and they even go over it on the wonderful site to be sure you fit in and not get youself or the citizens of the Spanish speaking country frustrated by a communicatins gap. It is a little more than a four-hour trip from Madrid to Granada, but if you can, you should see the Alhambra.
See if you can go to Barcelona – I love it there!
I loved Madrid, also – go to El Prado, definitely, and el Escorial, and the amusement park “Abyss”. Here’s a list of 433 Things To Do In Madrid.
