Can I take a taxi from Miami to Florida City, and if so how much will it cost?

Asked by occ (4179points) April 15th, 2008

I need to get to a hotel in Florida City, about 35 miles from Miami. Really don’t want to deal with renting a car. Will a cab at the airport take me that far, or is there a chance they might not take me?? I have a ride back to Miami the next day, so don’t mind spending $$ for a one-way cab. Just want to make sure a cab will leave the city limits.

I was just there and yes you can. Depending on where you are taking the cab from (south beach, north dade county) it will cost you a pretty penny in cab fare. I am guessing somewhere in the hood of $80.

I just took a cab today from LAX to Seal Beach and that ran me a cool $100

Yes, any cabbie would be glad of the fare, I suppose. But watch it, they can be tricky, greedy. It’s a straightforward drive. 836 east to the Florida Turnpike (a few extra bucks toll) south to Homestead/Florida City. When you exit the southern terminus of the turnpike, you are within a mile of your destination. (Local Yokel)
