Jobs in Los Angeles for a 16 year old?
Hypothetically speaking, what if a 16 year old parents threatened to turn of the Ethernet and revoke all xbox privilages unless he found a job over this up coming summer(S). This boy/straping adolecent man, needs some advice on where to go and what to do… His skill set it not very high considering he only worked as a camp temp for 2 months last summer. Thanks everyone :)

What about a lifeguard job? That is a good summer job with lots of beach time.
Otherwise, there is bagging groceries at a grocery store.
For any job in which you interact with the public, you need to dress presentably, be polite, and be patient with customers. There are the usual fast food jobs and there are retail jobs.
Do you have a driver’s license? When I was a teen, I valet parked cars at local restaurants.
Want to work outdoors? In Los Angeles in the summer, there is plenty of demand for pool service. Check with pool service companies now, you can start after school in the spring and go full time in the summer. Or, depending on where you live, you could start a pool business of your own.
Welcome to Fluther.
There are lots of jobs suitable for teenagers, starting with the classic “babysitting”. I did that as a teen, myself.
You can do a lot of other jobs directly for people. You can do light housekeeping, windows & floors, which I also did – and which led directly to my first salaried job, when the housewife I worked for strongly recommended me to her husband for work in his plant.
Lawn mowing and landscaping are jobs that are in demand in the Greater Los Angeles area, even cleaning garages and hauling away trash.
Really, if you stop thinking about “a job working for a paycheck” and think instead “what can I do for people?” you can make your own job, and even make your own business.
A friend of mine is a 15-year-old boy who started his own lawn mowing business and now employs three other teens himself.
If I were starting over, I’d avoid any kind of job such as the one I have now working for a salary determined and paid by others, and have my own business. I’m just too lazy to change and start that now, because it takes a lot of work, but will pay off well later on.
Well the whole lifeguard might not work out to well considering i haven’t done much surfing lately and my swimming is too shoddy to get past any legit lifeguard test. But I have my license to the whole valet thing might work… my clutch driving could use some work too… Thanks all its good to be a part of Fluther :)
@Evil_ot_Efil Landscaping companies love to hire young men of your age range to do all sorts of labor. You’d make good money and be able to work on your tan & your biceps at the same time ;)
Disneyland, they do mass hiring. But that is Orange County.
