first you need to know what DHCP is all about, the big word is “Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol” if i remember correctly, anyway, that’s not important, the thing is, every computer connected to your router needs an IP adress, consider it a house number, you can give your computer his own adress by hand, or let DHCP give those numbers, it’s designed for larger networks, but your little home network is great for it too
you have an airport right? don’t the come automaticly configured with DHCP on? just leave it that way
yea that’s how set it up. I tried setting it up first with PPPoE first and that did not work
and what does bridge mean
in what context? my advise, leave it on DHCP and be done with it, don’t tinker with it as long as it does it’s job
PPPoE is for DSL. If you do not have DSL, you won’t be able to use PPPoE—that’s probably why it didn’t work.
If you have cable internet, you should be able to just plug in and go with your router without making any changes to make it work.
I do have DSL. It just would not work. Probably operator error. LOL I guess DHCP is good enough
Now, your DSL modem may be doing the PPPoE work and that’s why DHCP is working.
