@Coloma, that’s a pretty common scam that is circulating these days. I got a few messages like that on answerbag, of all places, not too long ago. Stuff like

“Hello friend. it is me who wants to know you more because of great care you show me, and great friends i think we could become. so nice. value of friendship is wonderful, isnt it? i will send pictures if you give me your email so we can grow to be stronger friends…. blah blah blah”

Here is the actual text of the spam message I received on answerbag. I’ve gotten a few just like this on Fluther, too, and they almost always follow a similar format and style:

“HI CAN WE BE FRIENDS?

I am pamela by name,am friendly and good looking young girl , I want us to be friends, for friendship can not be seen or even touched because true friendship does not matter with anything but it must be felt within the heart.

Wow, friends are like clothes, without them we feel naked! I guess I’‘m right? Looking forward to a wonderful response from you.

Contact me (pamelateamah@yahoo.in)so that i will send some of my pictures to you so that we shall continue from there to know eachother.

I will be waiting to hear from you soonest.

The two times it has happened to me lately the spam has been gone from my PMs before I even get there. The only reason I know there was a message there is that I was notified by e-mail.

Nope, not lately. Every now and then one shows up in my PM box, but none recently, luckily.

I always wonder how they choose who to send their messages to. It seems to have no rhyme or reason to it.

I thought they saw my profile on some site I’ve never heard of, and fell in love with me! No?

I got some nasty suck-rats shit and reported it. It was gone faster than the question I posted
about it.
@dog said about 5 per day were caught and dumped.
