Is my mac compatible with screen-spanning (dual monitors)?

Asked by DinosaurzFTW (18points) March 6th, 2011

I have a 20” iMac (late 2006), and I’d like to hook up a second display. Before I go out and purchase a mini display to VGA adapter, I want to know if it would be possible with my mac to drag windows from display to display, or if the second display would just clone what’s on my primary display. (Or if the second monitor would even work at all).

Apparently yes.

I did a bit of poking and found not one , but two old forum threads regardign dual-screen iMacs. Those posts are from 2007, so I am pretty sure that your late-‘06 iMac is covered.

I have a G5 i bought in 2005 and i do it with my Sony Vaio monitor. Your best bet is to call the Mac/Apple store around you and they’ll tell you exactly what you need to do it. Thats what i did. On mine i can switch Tiger operating system back and forth to windows.
