Anyone remember The Ventures and their music?
I could not believe how music came out the guitars of The Ventures. I believe The Ventures put the name Fender guitars on the map for the company. And, how about some of their songs? My favorite is a remake of Bill Doggetts instrumential Honky Tonk, which was recorded in 1956. The Ventures music was unique. It was a different sound. Thier Christmas Album was truly “one of a kind”. Question: so, who remembers The Ventures and what was your favorite song? Song examples are accepted.

I was just a tad too young, but my older brother had all their albums. My favorite was “Wipeout”. The “Surf Guitar” seemed to be perfectly suited to be listened to on an AM transistor radio.
Remember, no. Wasn’t close to born yet.
Enjoy, yes.
Walk, Don’t Run. A favorite instrumental.
Walk Don’t Run just rocks!
I’ve actually seen the original Ventures in concert 2 times (in the 1980’s) they were amazing! My father actually had one of their albums in the 1960’s and when I was in my early teens, I became very interested in all things surf music related (Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, Dick Dale, Ventures etc.) I love Walk Don’t Run. I got Bob Bogel to autograph my Dad’s album!
Between watching The Best Of Laugh-In last night on PBS and this Q, John, I can’t decide if I’m really old or really cool. I loved the Ventures! I feel a Walk Don’t Run earworm starting up…
Walk, Not Run? Wasn’t that their best song? Sure; very clearly recall them. I liked Wipeout a lot but didn’t know it was The Ventures.
@Aster @zenvelo Not Saying that the Ventures didn’t do Wipe Out, they may have had a version. But wasn’t the more well known version by The Safaris? Am pretty sure of that. The B side had one of the strangest songs ever, Surfer Joe, on it. YouTube that, bring back some memories.
Yeah, The Safaris does sound more like it. lol
