Not been asked before, there was one which stipulated “killer animals” but that’s a whole new ballgame. Yeah, what i’m after are movies you have seen & enjoyed whose principle characters were indeed animals. Some fine examples would include, Lassie, Homeward Bound, G-Force, & Seabiscuit…..starring Sarah Jessica Parker I believe. Okay, let’s hear your choices if you please.

Do extinct animals count? Jurassic Park.
Sentimental favorite: Old Yeller
Crazy/funny favorite: Best in Show
Goofy/adorable favorite: Paulie
Marley & Me
which even though I’d read the book still made me ball like a baby
Almost forgot… King Kong (2005).
Benji, Alice In Wonderland, The Black Stallion/Black Beauty (can’t remember which is the book and which is the movie), Charlotte’s Web, James and the Giant Peach, Finding Nemo… I can’t think of anymore right now.
I second Babe for the focus on letting people (er, animals) play to their strengths even if it is outside of their normal role, and Finding Nemo only because Ellen Degeneris was utterly hysterical.
I really used to like that movie where dobermans were bank robbers; Deadly Dobermans, I think.
I also really like Thomasina.
Yeah. I’m rockin’ it old skool.
@psychocandy I think that was The Doberman Gang, wasn’t it? I saw it on a plane without sound and didn’t miss a thing.
Finding Nemo
Babe
March of the Penguins
The Secret of NIMH
Charlotte’s Web
Bedtime for Bonzo and Bringing Up Baby
oh, and KANGAROO JACK! Love that movie…
Nothing beats benji. I love the fact a non-talking animal can hold down a major role.
Up!
@sakura Good call on Because of Winn Dixie, I completely forgot how much I loved it
I loved Up!, too.
Madagascar was totally hysterical, and Turner and Hooch made me cry.
OOOOH! Winged Migration was AWESOME!!! Great soundtrack, very relaxing…good stuff.
Jaws.
Robert Shaw was amazing;))
Do animations count? If so I’m going to say Over the Hedge…. it was soooooo funny.
I love me some Homeward Bound.
The original Incredible Journey (on which Homeward Bound was based) is really good, with the talking.
Toad, Ratty, Mole and Badger from Wind in the Willows
Plus
... as “animals” go there is always Alex Karras as Mongo in Blazing Saddles…
The Incredible Mr. Limpet I can watch over and over. Love that movie!
Blade Runner.
Nearly every character in that movie is associated with an animal. A unicorn, a raccoon, a wolf, a turtle, an owl, a snake, a teddy bear, a spider…
Can we include video clips? If so, I choose the one where the Gorilla saves the two year old that fell into her pen at the zoo.
Rock-A-Doodle
The Fox and the Hound
White Fang
Milo and Otis
@ucme I don’t think Sarah Jessica Parker is in Seabiscuit…
Crap. I meant to say with out the talking.
The Journey Of Natty Gann was another one of my favorites.
Milo and Otis has always been my favorite.
Oooh, @jonsblond , I love and own and watch from time to time Milo and Otis!
O yes! “I hope that’s a kitten!”
Admiral, there be whales here!
ATBWH (Oops – wrong question!)
The Big Blue is another worth mentioning, as the dolphins are an integral part of the plot.
Lassie
Ice Age
Old Yeller
