Any fellow Microbiologists out there that know about iron bacteria?

I work at a water analyzation lab and we’ve recently had a couple calls about iron bacteria. We dont know anything about available tests to confirm their presence but even if we did and could pinpoint an amount (population), there are no set standards for them according to the state. I know they create a nasty rusty slime inside pipes and once they are coagulated together it is challening to treat just one area of the pipe making them difficult to remove them both temporarily and long term. Anyone know anything?
