(NSFW) Did I wait too long to take plan B?

Asked by beccagolling (2317points) March 14th, 2011

So pretty much my fiance and I “did it”. But we waited until three days later to take Plan B. And I do know that it is not to be used as a form of birth control. And The reason we were not able to get it sooner was because we were very busy. Even though I started my period from the Plan B….is there still a chance we waited to long? And if so would the baby be safe??

You can take Plan B up to 72 hours after having sex for it to work effectively.

The sooner the better with plan B, but it is within the time frame you’re supposed to take it.

Also if you already started your period, even from the plan B….. then you’re about 99.99% for sure not pregnant.

You were very busy? Seriously? It has some chance to work now but not as much.

I have read that Plan B works for up to 120 hours after unprotected intercourse, but with each day, the effectiveness decreases.

If you have had your period after sex, how can you be pregnant?

@wundayatta There can be vaginal bleeding throughout a pregnancy that mimics a period. Hence the women who “had their period the whole time.” A blood test is the only real way to know.
