I have chronic insomnia. I have gone months on just a few hours of sleep. It took meds to finally get more than one decent night’s sleep in a row.
One time I stayed up all night at a friend’s house. When I got home I layed down on the couch and I fell asleep for a few hours until someone woke me up.
Around 40 hours – I was in labor with my first. The stress of that labor led to postpartum depression and it took me over half a year to get better.
For the last two months, I have been staying up for between 48–72 hours at a time. I then sleep for 6 hours, then I begin the process all over again.
My record is about 80 hours. You lose track and start to hear/see shit. I did it because I wanted to see how long I could go without it. That scared me out of ever trying more.
The longest was about 30 hours. I pulled an all-nighter in college, then had to stay up for a final and other stuff. I crashed for a nap in the afternoon, woke up and got back on my regular schedule. I was fine the next day, but I was younger then and bounced back quickly.
I have gone with 150 hours of no sleep at all and it almost made me crazy.
About 65 hours because I was addicted to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
A day and a night plus a few hours. I drove virtually non-stop from Phoenix to Chicago in order to make an engagement. By the time I got to the city limits I was spacing so badly that I barely made it to my hotel room before passing out for over 10 hours. Needless to say, I missed the engagement.
I suffered from harsh insomnia in the summer of 1979. I didn’t sleep more than a handfull of hours for 3 months.
The insomnia didn’t just stop, but faded away. I wasn’t sleeping normally for years.
I know what it is to have insomnia and how awful it really is.
zi stayed up eight days smoking meth once. I was delirious and seeing shit.
the most i’ve stayed up was over 24 hours.
One quarter at finals I stayed up for three days with about 4 hours of sleep. Cigarettes, super-caffeinated drinks, and some wake up pills from a friend of mine (lol) kept me going til after that last final. When I got home and went to sleep (at like 10am after my last final) I slept til early the next morning, waking up for about an hour to eat.
I read or saw on tv once or something that as part of a promotion a radio host stayed on the air and awake for like a week or two once. He ended up suddenly dying a few months later.
I’ve been up now for 48 hours and I’m exhausted,
My record is 48 hours, during residency. I had a 42 hour shift on the cardiac unit (only supposed to be 24), and then spent the next several hours doing necessary stuff like getting food, eating, showering. Then I passed out.
Wow you guys. 24 hours and I’m done
