What's your dream patio?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47126points) March 19th, 2011

This is pretty close to mine! We want a large covered deck that we can on when it rains, that leads down to a ground-level stone patio with a fireplace. :) I love dreams! And fireplaces! And living outside!

That really sounds nice having a patio you can sit in during rain and even thunderstorms! That is my dream too! I hope you get it some day!

Well, we have to get the house first. We know right where it is, but we have to get this house sold first….

@silent4geeta The house we’re trying to get is in the country….. : ) No sounds at all but the birds and the wind! Welcome to Fluther!

Yep.Ground level, stone patio partially shaded by wisteria would be nice:)

@lucillelucillelucille I hear wisteria can be a real bugger if you don’t take care of it….it’s beautiful stuff though!

I built my dream pation years ago. I like it, it’s mine, and rarely is someone, besides for my wife and kid, invited to sit on it. Best part? We never told the taxman about this grand improvement to the property, so it’s not being taxed!!! Next best thing to earning “tax-free income”. Gotta love sticking it to the taxman, that creep.

Off the Master Bedroom patio:
High walls of polished river rocks with green bamboo growing in front.⅓ of the area would be cemented with tiny while granite pebble which are then smoothed and sealed like bumpy pearls underfoot. On the hard patio would be a deep bathtub with hot & cold water (of course) and a sunken bronze brazier. Overhead would be a partial teak open slat pergola (with misters) that would have retractable panels of billowy sorbet colored chiffon. There would flameless candles everywhere.

Mine would have a pool beyond it. This is pretty close. I love the woods too.

@marinelife That’s my pool!!! Give it back!!

@Neizvestnaya Sounds..wonderful. If I could understand what you just said!

Glad you’re here @silent4geeta!

Wow; I couldn’t choose between them. I do love flagstone if it’s done well. Mexican tile would be second. My daughter has the grill with the brick fireplace on the end; it’s impressive and overlooks 17 acres. But she doesn’t have the plants; gotta have plants. Nice, Dutchess.

@Dutchess_III: Our build plan is for a small “beach shack” look on the outside and open modern inside. The patio will probably be one of the biggest areas but well loved and used.

I could live on our deck now (except for the fact it’s hitting 100+...)
At our new house we want a good section covered, and we want to build a shelf into the outside wall of the house….for a TV. : ) Open sliding cabinet doors, slide the TV out. : )

My dream patio heater is 34 years old. But it is very nice and useful…

My dream patio would have lots of plants, shrubs, and small trees around it. I’d love to have a hammock on one side, then a patio table and chairs set on another. A barbecue grill or fireplace would also be nice especially when entertaining friends and family. And I would love taking a nap there with my dogs. =)
