What is going on with the awards?

I’m investigating the whole hullaballoo—so if you see a few awards start showing up in the community feed, don’t assume they’re fixed yet.
I haven’t been able to determine at this time if we’ll be able to retroactively award the missing awards yet. I’m hopeful, though.

Ok. I’ve found the problem. Cameron introduced a bug that makes it so that awards are only ‘unlocked’ (which shows them on your list) the second time you are awarded it.
Meaning, any award that is only awarded once won’t ever show up (like all the 10K awards).
My plane is landing and I’m working on a borrowed computer. I’ll fix this and try and run a retroactive script if I get my old computer back this week.

Is there a reason why some jellies are unaffected and others are not.
I am missing countless ones and will know if they are granted.
@blueiiznh It’s per-award, not per-user.
Sorry it’s taken so long to address this, folks. We were in a rush to fix a bunch of bugs and make things more stable right before we were acquired.

@blueiiznh I think what @andrew is saying is that it might look like some jellies are unaffected because they received the awards before they were broken, but it’s really just that those particular awards are broken and so aren’t being given out anymore due to the error.
So it’s per-award, not per-user—despite what it might look like if you search through the profiles of various jellies.
@SavoirFaire Nope. I see many given out currently that I should have received.
@blueiiznh Well, @andrew said that the awards are only given out on the second time due to an error, so maybe those users did whatever’s required to get the award twice and you did it only once?
Understood @Mariah It still does not reconcile my issue (or others) or lend credibility to the awards.
@blueiiznh Some of them are being announced in the Community Feed but not being awarded on profile pages. Is that the issue you need reconciled? As for the “credibility” of the awards, they’re just a bit of fun. Nothing to get worked up over.
I had just one award for several weeks, it was lovely, I treasured it. Then all at once, some more appeared and suddenly I wanted all of the ones I was due, even though to start with one was enough…

The issue is that awards are not listed in peoples profile (including my own) after having hit the threshold defined to get it. I originally read a thread about it and that made me look at my own and sure enough I hit a threshold or two without getting the award and it made me aware.
I am asking only to understand and/or point out something that appears not to be working on this wonderful site.
@SavoirFaire While the awards are certainly a “bit of fun” as you put it, some people may have a different feeling over them. As @auntydeb just listed, it meant something to them to get them. To others it may be a fun race with fellow jellies to see who gets there first. There are plenty of questions that people tout their award or lurve prowess.
@SavoirFaire I was far from worked up. Afterall, it is a feature that does not appear to be working correctly or consistently. There are many threads that bear the same subject. Others would not post the question if it meant nothing.
If something is not working correctly, you shouldn’t just dismiss the issue by saying that it really doesn’t matter. That to me is a very poor customer service approach and I personally would never give that answer to someone using a service that I architected and supported.
@SavoirFaire I do find your comment a bit demeaning that everyone should not care about the awards because they should just be “fun”. The credibility comment comes in because I have also read threads here relative to trying to federate and expand web presence of Fluther as a tool made available on other web sites to ask questions to a wonderfully supportive group of people.

I hope whatever is done to reconcile and communicate the issue comes at some point.
@blueiiznh I was just trying to explain why you may have seen other people receiving awards that you yourself should also have received.
It sounds like @andrew has identified the problem and is working on fixing it, so it looks like everything’s going to be okay!
@blueiiznh Just to be clear, @SavoirFaire doesn’t work here. S/He’s a member who’s not receiving his/her awards, either.
The awards problem exists for everyone. At this point in time, no one is receiving certain awards, unless they’ve gotten them twice. They may appear in the community feed, but are not being posted to the member’s profile.
How ‘bout some new awards while we’re fixing things.
The augustlan kiss on the head award perhaps – or the janbb Mazel Tov award – or maybe the jonsblondesjon hawt couple award or…or the wundayatta sensitive guy award – or the JilltheTooth super mom award, or…or…

@blueiiznh It’s already well established that the award system isn’t working. You seemed to have some additional problem, which is what I was asking about. You seemed to think some people were getting awards while others were not. That is not the case, however, so I tried to explain that to you. My comment about just treating them as fun was not to say you shouldn’t concern yourself with them at all. I was just saying not to take them too seriously for the time being. The awards will start working again eventually, and then you can pursue them all you want. But it makes no sense to get too caught up in the issue right now while they aren’t working.
I’ve got my “Cake in the Frizzer” so I’m a happy camper.
Although I’ve been around a few months now, I still often feel like a newbie. Is a ‘cake in the Frizzer’ an award I haven’t heard of? I make good cake, is that worth an award? Is a ‘Frizzer’ really just a ‘Freezer’, in which case… er… why? Oh, Fluthering at near midnight again and getting garbled. I’ll just keep thinking of cake. @janbb – what sort do you like best?

I take it from the flurry of blue boxes that greeted me today and the praising comments in this thread that the awards are well on their way to being fixed completely. Thank you, @andrew, for this and for Fluther itself.
Awards should all be fixed and retroactively applied. Let me know if you feel like you’re missing awards, and which awards specifically.

@chyna there is an award for logging in/visiting 30 days in a row and one for 90 days in a row. I’ve been bitchin about the 90 days in a row for months.:(

Yeah and one for 10 days, but I’m at 90+ days, so I would have hoped to have had the 10 day one by now.
