Why do all the spammers post at 4:30 AM? (10:30 AM GMT)

Asked by MyNewtBoobs (19069points) March 23rd, 2011

What is it about this hour that seems to get spammers posting left and right? Why?? Spammers, feel free to answer.

Maybe because they think we’re asleep? Ha. Joke’s on them, huh?

@augustlan I cannot imagine being so dedicated to spamming sites that I wanted to wake up at this ungodly hour just to do it. I’m only up because I haven’t really reset my sleep schedule since I drank too much on Thursday.

The spam actually mostly comes from other countries. Often India, for whatever reason. Maybe it’s bright and early there?

@augustlan It’s 4:47 PM. So maybe they’re all just 14 year olds getting home from school? Because I’m sure India runs on exactly the same school schedule and structure that we do ;)

Perhaps they’re all coming from the same, automated place and set on a timer.

I know you can see if they’re all coming from the same IP on forum software, I assume Fluther is the same.

Because that’s the only time that all those disposed princes from nations taken over by militants have in the compound that they are now living in to get on the computer and offer you half of the 60 million American dollars they happen to have just for you giving them your bank account number and allowing them to deposit into your account for safe keepings.

so at 10:30am GMT, what time is it in Russia and China?

They’re on a set timer, maybe?

My question is, why do all the paid plants water themselves at noon?

Actually we get spam pretty much any random time. You SEE it because the mods are sleeping. :)

Spam comes automatically: they set the cooking timer.
