Do you choose to buy and wear labels and why?
I dance to my own drumbeat and always have, wearing only what I choose, what I like, no matter when but always on a low budget and consider it an achievment by how much I have saved.
Are you a slave to fashion and top brand labels?
do you think you are getting a better deal because it is more expensive or a popular label?
if so why and how do you justify your reasons?
Would you pay £60 or $60 more for an item with a label than a similar style elsewhere for much less?

No, I wouldn’t pay a penny more…slave to fashion, never…I wear what I feel comfortable with…
I buy what looks good and fits well and only when I’m looking for something. I’m a small guy and so it’s tough to find clothes that fit right. Name brands don’t mean anything to me but clothes that fit well do. I’ll pay what I have to for what I want up to a certain extent.
Yes, I do. Many of my clothes are name-brands. But many of them are not. I buy what looks good on me, regardless of the brand. There are some brands that seem to have consistently good-looking clothes and styles, so I go back to them. :\
Same as @DominicX. I buy because I like the item and not because of the brand name. If i like something, it looks good and it is good value, whether it is a brand name or not, I will buy it.
Nope. I’m way too frugal.
No, but I will pay more for better quality (when I can afford to). Generally, I buy what fits well and feels good, regardless of the brand. Oh, and it has to look reasonably good on me, too. But comfort first.
Even if I wanted to I couldn’t afford to. I would much rather buy 5 shirts at £10 each than one shirt at £50. I would like to be able to buy good quality but I can’t justify it, except for very special occasions.
Oh, heavens no. I never saw the point of paying twice as much just to advertise someone’s clothing line. Shirts that said Adidas was popular when I was a kid. I always thought if you want me to advertise for you, then pay the ad fees. I’m not paying extra just for the honor of giving you free advertisement. Not this lifetime.
I look on ebay often. I can find things much, much cheaper and still with the tags on.
I usually like to wear the surrounding garment as well as the label.
I buy fashion brands when I get them on a good deal if they are what I am looking for.
I buy what’s well made and fits me best.
Seeing “Hunter” on every other woman’s pair of rain-boots this winter did annoy me for some reason, I have to admit.
I don’t seek out brand names. I do have a few brand-name items, but they’re items I either happened across at Winner’s (like a TJ Maxx or Marshall’s, I think – brand-name stuff at a discount), like my Calvin Klein wool coat, or brands that I like because of the quality, like my Doc Martens.
I find myself actively avoiding most brand names, actually. I buy a bunch of my clothes (jeans, skirts, sweaters) at Old Navy, because their clothes are well-priced and of fairly good quality, but I wouldn’t wear something with the brand name emblazoned on it. I don’t go to Gap, Banana Republic, American Eagle, etc. because it’s the same stuff as at Old Navy, only more expensive.
The majority of my clothes come from Goodwill. My favorite pair of jeans (Levi’s) came from there. I didn’t buy them because they were Levi’s, I bought them because they fit well and accentuated my ass. ;)
I do have favorite brands from Kohl’s and Bergner’s, but I can only buy them when they are on sale for 70%-80% off the original price. They are my favorite brands because they are comfortable and are made to last, not because of the name on the tag.
I’m not a slave to any fashion labels for the sake of the name but there a few clothing labels that have proved consistent over time for quality-to-value and style. So yes, when it comes to those particular labels, I’ll pay the extra money if I can afford to.
Well I’m supposed to be a Goth, but for a while now I’ve been getting a lot of my clothes in thrift shops. Right now it’s a necessity thing for me, I don’t really care what’s on it.
Thankyou all for your great answers :)
I agree also that sometimes I will pay that little extra if it fits well, comfort is essential to me. I just find it so shocking when I come across some for example-my sons friends, they expect their parents to pay way over the odds just to have that label and some actually do! they then discuss between themselves who has the best?!?! ,,each and every time I find myself explaining to my son why he only needs what he truly feels comfortable in, is within budget and good value, and that there is only the need to pay that extra if the need be for fit and comfort, luckily he understands and accepts this, but I know the pressure on some kids and teens these days can be quite serious…
