Where can I get my passport renewed in San Francisco?

can I go to the post office and do it? or is there a special office? how long does it take to process the request? My old passport is still valid for a month.

You can renew your passport by mail, which is probably the easiest way. I don't know how long it takes.
A second option would be to go to the San Francisco Passport Agency. They can expedite the passport process if you're travelling soon. The agency is at 95 hawthorne street, fifth floor. An appointment is required. You can call 877-487-2778 to make that appointment.

UPDATE: I went to the post office...it's pretty easy to get it done there. but if anyone else is going, get your passport photos taken beforehand...it only cost $7 at walgreens but they charge 15 at the post office. Also, they are really backed-up and it could take as long as 3 months to get your new passport so if anyone else is thinking of traveling, renew sooner rather than later.
