One of our users got nuked yesterday! What does it take to get banished by Fluther?

Asked by ETpro (34605points) March 26th, 2011

Yesterday I responded to a question by a certain user. I wanted to grab part of that response today to copy the quote, but it was nowhere in my list of responses. A bit of checking and I found that not only is the question gone, the user is no longer on Fluther. I had to wonder what it takes to get yourself banished to Outer Slobovia. Anyone know what limits we are never to cross?

Being a major douchebag.

The mods are thoughtful and considerate. They only do this as a last resort. He must have deserved it.

thank you sir, may I have another?

Breaching the established Fluther rules too many times. Direct flaming, trolling. That kind of stuff I guess. I think most people get warnings, at least at first.

Unless someone is a spammer or starts off as a clear troll, we generally do warn them about breaking the guidelines, first. Every once in a while, someone does something that results in an immediate ban (hate speech, going off the deep end all of a sudden, threatening another member or a mod, etc.).

[mod says] Please don’t post anything that will identify the member in question. Thanks!

Oops, sorry Auggie!

I forgive you. :)

Thanks, everyone. It’s reassuring to know that you have to be really out of line to get axed.

Just make sure that the checks you send to Auggie don’t bounce. ;-)

@augustlan What do you mean specifically about ’‘going off the deep end’’? You know, to make sure I dun do it. XD

@Symbeline It kinda sounded anal-sex related :/

Berserker's avatar

@bob_…guess I’m safe then. :D

@Symbeline Basically, going on a sudden trolling rampage. For instance, as an over-reaction to being modded or something, they might start spouting rage and abuse in multiple unrelated questions, persistently derailing other people’s threads. If someone won’t stop doing that, we pretty much have to ban them just to stop the behavior.

Aah okay yeah. I’ve seen that happen a few times. Luckily it’s rare on this site, unless I’m on at all the wrong times lol. XD
