To Any nikon using photographers, what are your favorite lenses?

I have had a nikon for years and recently bought a D7000. It came with a really nice old 105 mm non af lens, a 28–105mm VR AF lens, and then I have a few from before. I was looking at possibly getting a 28–300 VRII or maybe a 70–300 VRII, and maybe a 35 mm. Any tips, recommendations, etc. The two big lenses are $1000, and $600. Anyone use them?

Any other tips, etc are appreciated too. I always like like to hear other people’s ideas and experience.
