I have to come up with a symbol?

Asked by xivvy (33points) March 27th, 2011

For my Lit class, I have to write an analysis for the conflict Education vs. Experience
One part of the assignment requires me to come up with a symbol that represents this conflict, and explain it.
I’ve been trying to come up with a symbol for about an hour now, and I can’t think of anything. Can anyone else think of one? I’d really appreciate the help.

A symbol? Or a pictorial representation? A symbol would be a lot harder…

Pictorial representation, yeah.

Okay-this is still a tough question, but not nearly as impossible seeming. Are there any other parameters for this symbol?

Not really, all the rubric says about it is “Include a symbol that you feel represents the conflict, with an explanation along with the symbol, explaining the connection.”

Wow! Okay, see if you can break down the issue. Try to think of something that could represent education, and something that could represent experience, and then think of a way that you could combine the two. Experience could be represented by an older person, education by a graduation cap, etc…hope this helps.

I have the PSD open and can rearrange objects if you want. That is assuming you would want to use it.

@ math nerd: How does the Earth represent experience?

xivvy's avatar

@math_nerd Hm, that’s interesting, but I don’t necessarily agree with education being greater than experience.

Show a man at a desk wearing a square “graduation hat” [ representing education ] being carried by a muscular man. The explanation is that “Experience can carry you quite far, but you see who’s on top, yes?” : )

Here’s my take on the question experience vs education.
