Farmers problem.
A farmer is standing on one side of the river and with him are a wolf, a goat and a box with cabbages. In the river there is a small boat. The farmer wants to cross the river with all the three items who are with him. There are no bridges and in the boat there is only room for the farmer and one item. But if he leaves the goat with the cabbages alone on one side of the river the goat will eat the cabbages. If he leaves the wolf and the goat on one side the wolf will eat the goat. Only the farmer can seperate the wolf from the goat and the goat from the cabbage.
How can the farmer cross the river with all three items, without one eating the other ?
@Scooby : This has been done to death, usually with a fox, a chicken , and a bag of grain. Okay…here goes: Take the goat across first (the wolf won’t bother the cabbages). Come back alone, and take either of the other two across-it diesn’t matter which one. We’ll say you take the wolf. Leave the wolf on the other side, and take the goat back over. Leave the goat and take the cabbages over and leave them with the wolf. Come back alone, get the goat and make your final trip over…
Incidentally, there was a great play on this in a Simpsons’ episode. Homer had Maggie, Santa’s Little Helper (their dog) and a bag a candy under the same circumstances. He miraculously (for Homer) figured it out, and on the last trip over in the boat saw a farmer on an island with a boat, and with a fox, a chicken and a bag of grain. The farmer asked for help, but Homer said, “No, I can’t figure that out…it’s too hard!”, or something to that effect.
The farmer brings the goat across. Goes back and brings the fox across, and brings the goat back with him to the other side of the river and drops off the goat, then he goes and brings the cabbage across, and finally he goes back for the goat and brings it across. Or somethin’ like that.

yet thinner than bones,
I am heavier than anything,
yet impossible to grasp,
I am bolder than the brave,
and more silent than the grave,
and much more deadly than an asp.
What am I?

What is in seasons, seconds, centuries and minutes but not in decades, years or days?
@Winters um, is the answer “Nothing” ?
@erichw1504 That one’s a bit much…Couldn’t I just have my Pontiac Gran Prix I used to have? By the way, when do I start getting my pancakes?
That’s the tricky part. You get the lifetime supply of pancakes, but only if you can squeeze @erichw1504 into the frizzer. It’s a mini frizzer, so good luck.
