What song do you believe has the best use of a woodblock in it?

Asked by john65pennington (29273points) March 29th, 2011

We’ve all heard songs that use a cowbell to keep the beat in songs, but what is your particular song that uses a woodblock to keep the beat? I have a personal choice in a song that I just love. “Fool, If You Think Its Over”, by Chris Rea on Youtube. All the instruments are in perfect sync, thanks to the woodblock beat. Question: cowbells are out and woodblocks are in and what is your favorite song that uses it?

Oten Gleebin Glouten Globen! That’s gotta be “Rock of Ages” by Def Leppard. Too bad they went way downhill since Pyromania.

I don’t think this is a woodblock.
It sounds more like my ex BF’s noggin.
Close enough,John! XD

@lucillelucillelucille sounds like a woodblock to me. Like all drums, there are many different kinds that create many different sounds.

@12Oaks Are you sure it’s not Bob’s head? ;)

Lucy, I listened to that song. It sounds like an electronic woodblock and not real wood.

The Syncopated Clock.

Remember the theme from the old Midnight Movie from way back when?

(or was that only in the NY-East Coast area?)

I can’t do links from iPhone but just pop it into the Search on YouTube and click on it. You’ll recognize it instantly. A real classic.

Seconded by “Lovely Weather For A Sleighride Together With You”

One song that we played in our highschool band was Kronos by Robert W. Smith. It has a good wood block part. It was my favorite of all the songs we performed.
