Matlab:how does it work?

Asked by yankeetooter (9651points) March 29th, 2011

No, all kidding aside. Does anyone know anything about Matlab? I know nothing about it, but have to do a project that is worth 25% of my grade using Matlab. Our professor is no help whatsoever. If you are familiar with the program, how did you learn it? Are there books out there that will help me get started? Do you need to have a background in computer programming?

Matlab is a computer algebra system oriented toward linear algebra; it is particularly proficient at parallel processing on large matrices of data. There are many books available at all levels as Matlab is widely used in engineering. Also there is a great deal of material available online. The programming skill required depends on the complexity of the project.
