What are a Tiger’s closest relatives or evolutionary history?

Here’s Phylogeography and Genetic Ancestry of Tigers

kingdom; animalia
phylum:chordata
class;mammalia
order;carnivora
family;felidae
genus;panthera

Look for other member of the genus and you’ll find the closest relatives, then up to the family, etc. And do your own homework ;)

I’m going to agree with @jlelandg on the lyger, as well as a tiglon

@FluffyChicken Tigons and ligers are artificial constructs that never occur naturally. They are not a species, but a hybrid, created for the amusement of man.

I’m guessing from your profile pic that you should know. :D
I would then assume that Asian Lions would be the closest relative since they are close by and a very similar cat of the same genus.
