How do you make sense of this dream?(see details)

Asked by Ladymia69 (6884points) April 1st, 2011

Last night I dreamed that I was staying a in a vacation home. At some point in the dream, all around me were these creatures that were a cross between a jelly-like worm and a slug, all of different colors and shapes, infiltrating the floors, rooms, and corners. I was trying really hard not to step on or come into contact with any of them, but somehow they kept attaching themselves to various parts of my body, like between my fingers and on my face. I remember thinking that they were like jellyfish, and the phrase “single-celled organisms” kept coming to mind in the dream. And at one point (this is horrifying), I remember feeling around down between my legs and finding a huge, green beaded tail of one of them sticking out of my butt, and, terrified, started pulling on it and pulling on it until I pulled out this five-feet-long, translucent green, huge, shit-covered jelly-worm, at which point I threw the detestable thing against a shower wall!

I awoke soon after that moment, and told my husband about it and his response was, “You’re on Fluther too much.”

Very funny, honey…but where the hell do these awful images come from in our unconscious?

April Fool?

Ha-ha. I have to agree with your husband. You probably went to bed thinking of fluther and of jellyfish, and after you fell asleep your imagination did the rest.

I believe you’re not on Fluther enough!

Ladymia69's avatar

No NOT an April Fool, I assure you!

@ladymia69 I sorta agree with your husband…but I don’t think it’s Fluther. I tend to lean toward the fact that you didn’t have a rest period between the computer or another electronic device (tv-etc) then you went to sleep.

I had the craziest dream the other night…it freaked me out!

I usually read prior to bed. That night I hadn’t.

@erichw1504 Aw, thank you…it takes a lot of energy to keep up on Fluther, and most of the time as of late, I just want to relax!

Perhaps you are worried about your health, or should be and are only subconsciously aware of it. Dreams that deeply disturb you are usually a sign of something wrong that needs to be acknowledged. to dream that you’re having a bad vacation can sometimes mean that you are not giving yourself a rest you deserve. Hope that helps!

Fluther is an escape, hence the vacation house. The “house” has all sorts of unusual fellow members, identifed by their “single cell” avatar. As for the shower scene, perhaps too many NSFW questions? Where else can you ask a graphic question and not be embarrassed or get strange looks?

It was THEM.

THEY put the thoughts there! I wonder where they left the subdermal thought transceiver?

Sounds like you’re pulling this out of your ass.

I should not have been eating Krystals while reading that… 0_o

@FluffyChicken You are probably right on the money there!

@bob_ As I was typing that sentence, I knew you were going to say something about it eventually….sigh….

I like interpreting dreams but I have no idea, did you eat cheese before you went to bed?? Because that can cause weird dreams. Or so they say.

FluffyChicken's avatar

@lemming “You may be an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of underdone potato. There’s more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are!”

Ladymia69's avatar

@lemming nope, no cheese…this dream happened between 7–8 o’ clock in the morning.

@FluffyChicken I wish in light of your qoute that I could saymy dream was Dickensian, but it just wasn’t…it wasn’t even Kafka-esque! :(

sounds a little tapeworm meets Timothy Leary if you ask me.

Oh, @FluffyChicken , how Dickensian of you!

This is my interpretation.

Notice…you are in a vacation home. So, you must be on vacation in your dream. If you are in a vacation home, you are there to rest. But you are “invaded” by slugs and worms who attempt to “attach” themselves to you. You try to avoid them, but you can’t. They attach themselves to you and you are unable to truly vacation. Basically, you are the “host” to these parasitical people. One of them even gets inside you and you need to pull it out. You are always “too nice” to them to tell them to let you have some alone time.

I am guessing that you are at a point where you cannot seem to get any rest. People are always attempting to “latch” on to you, so that you cannot seem to get away. Perhaps you have a lot of people depending on you, who “take” but don’t give back. People who never, ever let you “rest” ... and you can’t really get a vacation from them. One of them is so invasive, they are a “pain in the bum” so to speak. That one, by the way…is full of s***t and you find that person most difficult to (a) void. :)

The other interpretation is that I would check (seriously) to see if you might have a parasitic infection or parasites in your stomach. (Most everyone does, okay? But if you have been craving sugar and or have been feeling exhausted and with stomach probs, you might want to talk to a naturopath or go on a cleanse.)

I would see if either of these (or both…sometimes it is both) interpretations fit. Your subconsious is definitely trying to communicate with you…this is called a “big dream”, that is, that it left a huge impression on you and is asking to be deciphered.

Hope this helps.

@ladymia69 That is entrapment!

Ladymia69's avatar

@DarlingRhadamanthus I pretty much stay away from people as much as possible, so I am going to go with the parasite thing…which comes back to the health issue, I guess.

@bob_ I know, but it’s entrapment I like.
