Suggestions for fixing a bulky heel on felted slippers?

Asked by ANef_is_Enuf (26839points) April 2nd, 2011

I have a pair of felted slippers, very similar to these.
The problem is that she puts too much space in the heel, so the rest of the slipper fits, but I have this bit of bulk that sticks straight off of the back of my heel… about an inch. It isn’t too big on the sole of the slipper, and it fits perfectly everywhere else. The heel just protrudes from my heel by about an inch. How would I go about fixing that? This is my second pair of these slippers and I love them, but they tend to flop off after a while because of that extra bulk.

I would cut it off then re-sew it,maybe even glue it.I think if you cut the end so it resembles a thin football shaped slot and sew that shut,it should fit tighter.

I’m thinking the same, football shape and all. I wasn’t sure if that would be the best method, but that is the first solution that I thought of, as well.
@noelleptc I think that would work if the back of the slipper didn’t fit the back of my foot, but it does. There is just this weird excess fabric that sticks off. That’s smart, though, I’ll have to remember that.
